can anyone recommend a restaurant with wifi that is good for lunch or dinner preferably within the silom area.

Black Canyon Coffee may be what you are looking for. It is in the shopping center on the 2nd floor I think.

Bug and Bee (by Silom BTS station) has free wi-fi, and the food is good there.

the shopping complex is closed till the latter part of the year

Coffee World, Coffee Society, and other coffee shops usually have free wi-fi;yet, Starbucks in Thailand charges for their Wi-Fi. They lose my business.
