View Full Version : Anyone watching the latest "ladyboy" TV show ?

May 30th, 2012, 04:20
So, last nights episode was based around the experiences of two guys who both fell in love / were going out with ladyboys, both used to be bar girls, one guy was going the whole hog and going to the village, bought his GF a noddle bar and was intending to go to Pattaya and buy themselves a bar - oh and had agreed to married her as well, it then showed the family saying how "delighted" they were with the arrangement and how they considered him to be like a son already to them ( surprise surprise lol :-) I just hope they do a follow up in a few years as the outcome could be what makes the more interesting TV perhaps :-)

On the other hand they both seemed genuinely happy together and I really do wish them all the best and hope it works out for them.

The other guy was a serial lady boy chaser and even whilst going out with one lady boy he was getting messages to his phone at 3am from previous GF's saying "can i come over etc" lol and god love tried his best to convince his current squeeze that he wasn't playing around - she was having none of it and went off in a huff until it was time to go shopping lol

All in a all a great wee series so far :-) - anyone else watching ??

I really don't understand your fascination with ladyboys. :dontknow:

but up to you (can't remember where I heard that).

May 30th, 2012, 04:30
i wasn't aware I had a fascination with ladyboys ?? Do you know something I don't perhaps ?? lol And yeah ok I might have fucked one or two in my day but that was more out of a general passing curiosity rather than a deep fascination - although now that you mention it there is something strangely alluring about ladyboys generally.......HOWEVER all i was saying was did anyone see the show last night on SKY as it was a great insight to everything we all already know about how things work in thailand but it was the talk of my office this morning with everyone now assuming that that's exactly what I'm getting up to during my trips - little do they know that's TAME compared to some of the nonsense I'd get up to if I had the stamina, the viagra and a big enough wallet !! lol

Yeah, i watched it.

Not that big into ladyboys, but i will watch anything Thai related.

Thought it was quite funny, and I thought that Scott (the muscular guy who was engaged to the Isaan ladyboy, Pang) was rather cute.

Had a lovely dimple on his chin he had....

He came out with some dreadful shite though..at one stage he said "since I have come to Thailand i have become more open"

As i said to my TV: "Yeah, we know exactly how that happened darlin..." :evil4:

Glad I am not the only one that doesn't know about this....

Can anyone provide any details? Name of the show or something?

I bet this is not something on US television.... :crybaby:

May 30th, 2012, 16:19
@ Halfhansum ( great nick by the way lol) I'm not sure, I'm not up on the whole Iplayer thing ( I think I am the last person left alive that doesn't use it or know anything about it perhaps ? :-) But I "thiought" that was for BBC programmes ?? - ( maybe I'm wrong ?? ) but if so the programme goes out on Sky living on a Monday night and then repeats on a Tuesday night - and I'm guessing with Sky will then repeat a million times there after after that !!

It's just called "ladyboys" and it is a decent enough programme in terms of not just taking the piss and going down the knocking "have a laugh at the freak lady boy type line" - in actual fact there seems to be a deliberate slant on "ladyboys are people too you know, who are entitled to equal rights in Thailand just like the rest of you you know" which is good.

It's also quite entertaining just in a light hearted docusoap kinda way - and when you also have some idea of what's REALLY going on in Thailand i.e. "The family of Pang ( the ladyboy) really love John ( the rich farang) - oh and john has just bought them a noodle bar, a bar in Pattaya, building a house, marrying her and is happy and willing to take on the whole extended family as "his" responsibility" - and you're just sitting there smiling knowing to yourself "yeah I BET they love him" lol - with the words "lamb to the slaughter" ringing quietly in your ears while watching :-)

Or when they ask the two farang guys they were interviewing "so, are you / have you been faithful" to your lady boy whilst in Nana plaza bangkok and they both look into the camera and say "yes" - but you see their eyes blink and their eyes dilate a bit and as a westerner you KNOW they are lying through their teeth lol - or likewise they asked "so do you / cqan you trust your ladyboy girlfriend when you're back home working in the Uk to send her money" and he replied "oh yes, actually I sent her two emails from false addresses pretending to be a random farang after I left asking for sex and she say "no I have boyfriend so don't email mea again" - so "yes, OF COURSE I can trust her" - all the while you just know the Girl is sitting there thinking "does he REALLY think I'm THAT stupid to fall for the old fake email trick three days after he leaves my village lol"

Yeah I think it's a great wee show and a good dash of Thailand "culture" when stuck here in the UK :-) Hope you catch it.

Add my thanks as well.
Just finished watching. Well done program, not at all trying to exploit or ridicule. Also made me miss the BF damnit.

I did like the plan that the BF was moving to Pattaya to buy a beer bar after they get hitched. Wonder how that will turn out?
I would stop by for a beer if they actually open one up. Anyone hear anything, make sure to post it.

I have to admit that when I heard the younger guy say he was going to open a bar in Pattaya, I immediately felt like he's doomed. Still, they seemed like a nice couple and I wish them well.

are ladyboys a lower class thing? I mix with educated Thais from BKK and have never really met any. I mean, I do see them in shopping centres . Thais generally tolerate them but never welcome them in upper class circles. I don't see the fascination either but I don't like Thai boxing, likkay or other baan nok activities. Many farang who "find love" in Kalasin are probably into these things.

The next episode of this is on Sky Living tonight, at 10 pm, for those who are interested.

It is going to be covering ladyboys living in Pattaya tonight, apparently.

Good episode tonight so far

Very impressed with Ladyboy Imm, the PR from Alcazar... seems like she really has her head screwed on and they have a real "family" going there....

20,000 Bars in Pattaya?
Think thats a bit of a made up stat!

There was a sequence filmed in Dave man club in tonight's episode.

So you all you Dave regulars can watch it now and see can you spot yourselves.

It was the last episode in the series. The latest word on Scott and Paeng is that they are planning to set up a pig farm! :snorting: Hope the old adage about muck and brass works out for them....

Series 2 started on Sky tonight..

It was back to the relationship of David, the guy living in Bangkok.

His grown up son from Britain comes to visit in this episode. God, David comes across as so bloody full of himself and obviously regards himself as bit of a self-styled intellectual....

It will probably be on Youtube soon for those outside UK and Ireland.

I was looking on the web and came across this thread so thought I would add a reply from the horses mouth.
Thanks to everyone who has given their support, its very appreciated. Some comments have made me laugh, it seems everyone is an expert on Thailand and if you buy a bar, fall in love with a Thai then you are doomed and naieve.
I must admit when Paeng mentioned setting up a bar I said no way, even though I hade been to Thailand over 25 times in four years its always a crazy thing to do, however one thing I have always been good at it making things work and im not as green as I am cabbage looking, and the simple solution is to never put in more money than you are prepared to lose in an instant.

Many people say I was taking a huge gamble, this makes me laugh more than most, the bar cost me 6k to set up, 6k was six weeks work in the UK, ive bet more on a horse. Im self employed and can return to the UK at any time and restart the business, in the 11 months ive lived in Thailand I have enjoyed every minute, I havent been frugal with my money and the bar has allowed me to live a great life, I have also made that 6k back and a lot more with it, so where was the gamble in that?

The bar is going from strength to strength and so is the relationship, in the next couple of months we are looking to buy a guest house, yes another gamble but im sure I will be fine.

Im sorry if I sound condesending but im tired of people who apparently know it all and speculate that one size fits all, people always seem to think that guys like me go into things with their eyes closed (maybe many do) and that its likely my first time in Thailand, however I do appreciate that you can only make judgements by what you have seen on tv, but just to let you know that my eyes were wide open and to let the doom mongers and experts know that god forbid you were wrong for once.

Like I said thanks to everyone who has given support, you will always be made welcome at the bar whoever you are with and I would be more than happy to buy you a beer if we meet.

Regards, Scott

WOW, we have a star in our midst !! Welcome Scott, nice to see you here popping in for a chat and to hear your thoughts.

I have to admit to taking a second to pop back and read my previous posts when I read yours and thankfully it was all fairly positive thank god ( you may have thought so :-) and I do take your point about how it's (to) easy to generalise ( as I freely admit I did) and that everyone and every relationship is different, however as you also kindly alluded to when the show almost sets up the scene for "farang arrives in Thailand, faring meets girl, girl gets him to buy a bar etc etc" it's almost like watching (a very entertaining) car crash story as you "think" you know where the story is heading and will the naive farang lose his shirt ( as both we and no doubt you have heard happening many times before), but trust me there is no one happier than me to be continually proved wrong in my lighthearted but sweeping generalisations and I honestly was delighted when series two came one to find that not only were you still together but that things had moved on from strength to strength with you, both relationship wise and business wise.

Whilst the show didn't (I think) mention your many previous trips ( as that would have put a slightly different light on my view perhaps) I fully accept that you're "no goats toe" as we say here in Ireland, meaning you've obviously got your head screwed on and know what you're about, plus it's also obvious from the show that you've found " a good un' when you meet Paeng as as well as obviously genuinely loving you she's both a grafter and has a sound business head on her shoulders.

So, I hope you didn't take any "personal" offence at anything I said previously ( that must sound strange when the show IS about you and Paeng) but I can assure you my comments about family members being delighted you were there etc were sweeping generalisations about many sadly ending farang / Thai realtionships that we hear about and as I said above no one is more happy for you that everything's working out well for you both than I am as if anything the one thing I really admired is your "fuck it, I'm getting up and getting on and risking it" attitude on ( what appeared to be) your first few trips out there which I thought was brilliant ( if not a bit mad lol) but now that you've said you'd been there over 25 times and obviously knew the ropes you're "instant decisions" weren't perhaps quite just as mad as they were made to appear for the show.

And as for that beer, well actually I'd already fully intended to call in at the bar during my coming trip sometime over the next few weeks to say exactly above actually anyway so your post was very timely indeed ! :-) Meanwhile, I'm sure I speak for the rest of us in wishing you continued success in your relationship with Paeng and I really hope they continue running the show as when stuck here in the UK on a cold winters night it's a refreshing burst and remembrance of what those who didn't "get up and go" are perhaps missing ( or not - I guess that last bit is more a matter of opinion on just depending who one is talking to perhaps! )

Nirish

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply and to give your thoughts. I guess I have always had a 'fuck it' attitude 555, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.
There are methods to my madness, the small pig farm was set up at a very small cost but it now means Paengs immediate family are self sufficient and we have no need to send money every month. I have always believed in helping the Thais to help themselves rather than just throwing money at them, the noodle bar was to allow Paeng to earn her own income instead of relying on me. Its good because the family dont ask me for a thing unlike many Thais who have a son or daughter that gets with a falang.

Funnily enough I get many guys coming to the bar that are interested in owning a bar and ask whether they should do it or not, my answer is don't because the chances are you will lose, therefore I completly understand why guys thought I was an idiot, maybe I still am. I was initially going to stay in the UK and 'support' the bar, however 3 weeks before the first series went out my father passed away at a young age and it made me realise life is way too short and it gave me the push that I needed. He never knew about my attraction to ladyboys and I now wish I had told him about my relationship but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Im normally at the bar around 10ish, by all means pop in and I will gladly buy you a beer and have a chat.

Thanks Scott - I will call in for that beer some night and for those who aren't familiar with the bar and maybe want to call in and say Hi also ( as hey you might as well get a free plug Scott eh:-) the bar is called "Sensations" and if I'm correct it's located in the Action Street complex on Soi Buakhao ( correct me if I'm wrong there Scott)

Oh and Scott just to clarify one thing you mentioned that many people thought you were an idiot for up and moving as you did, well just for clarity I wasn't one of them, quite the opposite, as I said I thought your actions were a real take life by the balls thing to do at every level both professionally and romantically so fair to you and I'm delighted it's all working out for you (both) - one thing though I've just banged the bar's name into google to check the address and noticed that ( I assume) some of your customers and the girls etc have uploaded some Youtube videos, well, when I visit I am definitely NOT playing pool with Paeng as she is WAY to good and would only show me up to be the totally useless at most sports that I am man!!! lol

Hello Scot ..
You certainly seem to have achieved the dream of many Fellangs, regardless of their orientations ...
And as you say, 6 grand , to invest in a business with the potential to support a lifestyle for years to come, sounds well worth the risk .. Hell, you can spend more than that on a car and get more aggro ..lol
I wish you both the best of luck, and will come in for a drink when i am next there ...

Hi Nirish,

Yes the bar is Sensations in Action street, if you are coming down soi buakeaow from the soi diana end, so turn right out of soi diana and carry on until you see Rehab ago go and Tesco lotus, just after those the road bends right and Action street is on that curve. We are in the complex of bars in the middle section.
Paeng is a decent pool player but an idiot when it comes to poting the black and loses many times because of it lol.

Look forward to it.

Could never live in BKK, two nights is enough for me. It seems that where you spent the most time on your first hols is where you have a preference Bkk or Patts. Many of my friends prefer Bkk and I have enjoyed my times there but for me its not a patch on patts.

Thanks for the support

Out of interest, can anyone tell me the name of this show and if it's possible to view or find it online?

Most ladyboys I know have terrible love lives. Often get treated so poorly. I'm not in the least attracted to them but feel so sorry for them. Nice to see one in a relationship that's working out.

$6k to setup a bar... it's so cheap to setup these types of businesses in Thailand. In Australia, it's at least half a million to set up a decent small bar. Quite a bit of capital down the drain if it flops. But then again, here we can charge $10 (300 baht) for a beer, $24 (700 baht) for a cocktail and $9 (270 baht) for a bowl of chips.

Strangely enough it's called Ladyboys :sign5:

In the UK it airs on Sky - I don't know if that helps you locate it - there only seems to be brief clips on YouTube (for obvious reasons).

Some SGT members might be lucky enough to spot Dolly John as a befuddled ATM user in one episode. Talk about type-casting! :sign5:

Joe - obviously you have never met or seen Dolly John or you would realise just how offended NIrish might be!! :sign5:

But he's certainly not the only one who's befuddled - now I think about it Dolly John was not in Ladyboys at all it was the BBC's Holiday Hit Squad!!

Meantime - Heeeeeeeeeeeeeer's Dolly! (the one with the cymbals)

If you're into torrents a search for 'BSKYB ladyboys' on either The Pirate Bay or KickassTorrents will produce the the five programmes in the second series. I've only watched the first two but they are very entertaining.

Watching this at the moment..... now on episode 2

I reckon that Davids son in episode 1 could easily have gone with one of teh LBs... if he had 2-3more days in Bkk... they seemed to do a lot in 1 week (Bkk, Issan and Samui... It must have been exhausting!)

First anomaly i saw is the narrator stating that there are only 12 lady boy bars in Pattaya...

There must me 12 alone on the south pattaya side of Soi Buakow.... so i presume thats what she meant!

Next one was the 7 hour journey from Pattaya to korat... Were they traveling by tuktuk? Should be no more than 2.5 hours!

Also question for Scott
The narrator and yourself call your GF Pang. yet her name is spelled Paeng... and mens expensive... from my (limited) thai i thought this word/name was pronounced as Peng?

... you would have to be gay to not fancy lady boys
Aha... Finally someone has figured why i don't fancy LBs!
I have many LB friends... but although i am 100% attracted to males... for some reason if someone held a gun to my head... i would rather have sex with a female than a ladyboy!
