Of course this will not appeal to those who skulk around cheap and nasty bars looking for a cheap root and cheap lodgings, but the two bars mentioned, top dollar expected for the view, seem spectacular.
I have skipped over beachlovers mentions of the Lebua bar, have not seen the Hangover movie[as yet]. But both might be just the location the very hot nights to take in the cool air and the visual highlights

The Best Roof Tops of Asia
By Carlos Melia
What could be better than to combine amazing drinks, a great, sexy, and sophisticated crowd, and the most breathtaking 360 degree panoramic views of one of the up and coming and avant-garde cities of Asia? As soon as I arrive to any big urban destination on this side of the world, my first question to pop up to the concierge of my hotel is, "Where are the Roof Top Bars?" and there I go, and there I went to share my experiences with you.
My absolute favorite is the Ku De Ta Lounge in Singapore on the 57th floor of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel & Casino SkyPark. Featuring the most spectacular 360 degree views of Singapore Bay, particularly from their beyond real infinity pool. Ku De Ta is divided into two sections, including the restaurant and the lounge/club. Check out additional info and videos here.
Ranking second is the world renown SkyBar in Bangkok, Thailand. This Rooftop Bar was made famous by the movie The Hangover II. It's located on top of the The Dome at State Tower Lebua Hotel. You can see mesmerizing views of the city and the Chao Phraya River as you're suspended in the sky on the 63rd floor. Sit at the stunning multi-hued bar with the finest selection of vintages, beverages, cocktails and appetizers in Bangkok. Check out additional info and videos here.
Successful Rooftop Bars can be outdoor or indoor, although sometimes the heights rule, like the Ozone Rooftop Bar in Hong Kong at the brand new Ritz-Carlton Hotel, considered to be the tallest hotel in the world. You can enjoy signature cocktails and exotic selections of Asian tapas while listening to DJ beats. The bar is located on the 118th floor of the ICC Tower in Kowloon Island. There's an outside terrace if you dare, with lovely views of the Hong Kong peninsula. Check out additional info and videos here.
Last but not least, more modest but still quite striking, is the MoonBar in Bangkok. Located on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Bangkok. With a smart, casual dress code the place has a friendly and romantic ambiance. A beautiful place to contemplate the heavens or gaze at the stars while you sip your favorite beverage.
