Saturday 24.12.2011 Bangkok and Nakhon Nayok Ganesha Park

We have breakfast/lunch together and I ask my friend to come with me to the Ganesha Park in Nakhon Nayok. I know this park from a picture on his facebook profile (and did some research on the internet), so he knows how to get there. We take the bus to Victory Monument. We are just in time for the 14:00 minibus. That was the purpose of a post some months ago (how to get to Nakhon Nayok), but finally I let my friend take me there instead of insisting on a normal bus as recommended.

It cost 130 Baht per person and took 14:00 to 16:50. There is not much leg space, similar to an airplane. My friend said it would take one hour. On the way there were detours for others, maybe thatтАЩs why it took so long. On the other hand, the minibus took us right to the Ganesha Park, which is a bit outside Nakhon Nayok.

I like superlatives, so I would love to tell you that this is the biggest pink elephant in the world, but I donтАЩt know if itтАЩs true. So we have to do with the following version: this is the biggest pink elephant I have seen in my entire life.

This nicely complements a previous report about the Erawan Museum (giant three-headed elephant) in Samut Prakan.

We stay about an hour (16:50 to 17:55) and then go back to the main road. Waiting for a bus, I spend some time at a market. My friend finds out that there is no bus, but manages to arrange a free ride to Nakhon Nayok town (18:25-18:35). There we get a minibus that takes us to outskirts of Bangkok (18:45-19:55, 100 baht per person) and and regular bus (line 29 and 47, 20:05-21:35) back to my hotel.

I called my friend A during the trip back, my intention was to have him waiting for me at my hotel when I come back, I didnтАЩt work out that way, he was there 22:50 (one hour after me). We have dinner and spend some time in my room. He leaves at 3am. (No Christmas activities? No Christmas activities! I can do without Christmas.)

Sunday 25.12.2012 Bangkok

Brunch, internet, MRT to Sukhumvit. I havenтАЩt spend much time in Sukhumvit before. I walk to Benjasiri Park

and to Dasa book caf├й, where I buy two books. Take bus to Ramkhamhaeng to meet A again. Expecting significant delays, I suggest we meet at the market at the stadium, where I can spend an hour without getting bored. This time, no boys skateboarding shirtless (I saw on previous holidays when I drove past in a bus). Finally, my friends calls me that he arrived. Where can we meet, the area is large? We have a communication problem with my limited Thai and his limited English, finally I see a row of ATMs at the entrance and think tha ATM must sound good in every Thai boyтАЩs ears, and indeed a minute later he is there. We walk along Ramkhamhaeng townwards, confirm the location of Farose II (where I would return another day) and take taxi to my hotel.

To be continued.
