step into any englishbookshop here in BKK and there rare shelves full of them. But I guess those are not on sale via amazon and the like.
Assuming you stay in OZ I advise first to peruse several of www-sites/fora like orientexpat or even thaivisa and read first and ask further. As this also often depends/varies a lot to the country you yourself are used to-otherwise you only get to superficial fitforanyone advise. (f.e. if you can easiluy transfer pensions- medical insurance, etc.)

Can't vouch for the content but the following titles (all genuine) seem to hint that they might be useful for anybody (specifically, old queens) retiring to Thailand - I even suggest members might read them in the following, logical order:

Into the Abyss

Feasting with Panthers

Growing Old Disgracefully

Rent Boy

Rectal Prolapse - Diagnosis and Clinical Management

Any more?

I do have a Kindle and I've been looking for some good advice so I bought all three. No, I'm not a big spender but three books on the topic for around 15 Euro altogether was a bargain if they turned out to have useful information. I'm happy to tell members how to save 10 Euro - the only worthwhile one is How to retire to SE Asia (http://www.amazon.com/retire-South-East-Asia-ebook/dp/B007GSVXDW) by a chap called Bill Dean and it costs around 5 Euro. However it's worth multiples of that. The author clearly knows his stuff and has researched the topic well. It covers Thailand as well as Cambodia, Malaysia, The Philippines and Indonesia and compares each to the others.

It saved me hours and hours of time I could have spent via Google. Well done, mate, and if you're reading this post may I suggest a title for another one - "How to survive retirement in SE Asia"? Your chapter on alcoholism in Pattaya would be well worth reading!
