The email came out of the blue and I was not at all pleased. Sofitel Silom was a favourite when low season prices were on offer. I preferred it to the Dusit.

The new website also mentions new Silom in Sukhimvit opening in April 2012 and another which may or may not be the same hotel. Too pissed off to read.

Here is a link to the new hotel announcement. I know a number of viewers liked Sofitel after the bad treatment received at Marriot.

I used to like the Sofitel... nice rooms, good view - mainly due to its enormous height and great exec club lounge. But not a fan of its location. Too cut off. It was always a toss up between the Sofitel and Dusit Thani which has a way better location.

It was about time for it anyway. The Sofitel was getting too worn to remain a Sofitel. It either needed to be rebranded with a lower brand or have significant re-investment into refitting it.

Who knows... it might be almost the same once it's been rebranded.

also mentions new Silom in Sukhimvit
You mean a new Sofitel in Sukhimvit?

What bad treatment?
