Ban Khun Mae restaurant...

If youтАЩre looking for a really authentic Thai food restaurant or a place to take your Thai BF or friends in central Bangkok, this place is pretty good. IтАЩve had lunch and dinner there several times now. Comfortable, great for everyday eating and reasonably priced.

ItтАЩs called Ban Khun Mae and itтАЩs conveniently located in Siam Square (near Siam BTS Skytrain Station) at street level in a sort of Thai style cottage thing. You can sometimes find parking next to it.

ItтАЩs hard for me the describe the exact location as I just follow my BF there so just look at the map and the photos below and youтАЩll recognise the place when you see it: http://www.bankhunmae.com/location/index.html

IтАЩm surprised to find they have a website and even more surprised to see itтАЩs in English as I rarely see foreigners in there!

Nothing flashy or outstanding about it... itтАЩs just an affordable mid-priced restaurant, which serves great quality Thai food. Really authentic and wholesome. Service is always warm and friendly.

ItтАЩs also the first restaurant my (periodical) BF took me to eat! Now he seems to know my favourite dishes better than I do. But he tries to innovate and expand... Every time we go there, he remembers and re-orders stuff I especially liked from previous meals and then throws something new into the mix to see if I like it. The list keeps growing.... I should really try to remember what these dishes are myself.

My BF usually pays the bill when we go here and I think itтАЩs usually under 1,000 baht for two.

Happy eating... donтАЩt crowd the place!

You lost me here:

and I think itтАЩs usually under 1,000 baht for two.

You can have real authentic Thai food elsewhere for a lot less.

(Just kidding.)
