Dusit Thani latest newletter included a small piece "Off the beaten track -The Ancient Siam." Ifollowed the link and found they were referring to Muang Boran. There was very little info so I googled and got this link, I have never heard of it before . The trip reports are spread over about 5 years so maybe I selected a not busy forum

Like to know more about this as an alternative place to visit. The photos were too small to publish

Ancient City is in Samut Prakhan, south of Bangkok.
It's actually very good (not always an easy task when picking Thailand's tourist attractions). It has mini copies of old temples/ruins like Prasat Phanom Rung, Phi Mai, Phra Wihan etc etc etc which are OK, but it does best when it comes to their rebuilding of full scale Thai-style buildings. Many of them are excellent, and all are built from real-not-copied natural woods and other materials.
I enjoyed the Ancient City much more than some of the Disneyland-style attractions in the Pattaya area (Nong Nooch being an example of the latter, as well as the three-trillion year old bone yard).
Ancient City is quite large and if one is decrepit ~ not you of course ~ it's best to rent a car to take you around the joint. If I recall correctly they provide bicycles for rent.

Surprised you haven't already heard of this place .... and it's not off the beaten track: Samut Prakhan is a hive of activity of all kinds, and the trip to Ancient City from Bangkok could hardly be described as 'difficult'.
Typing 'Ancient City' into the Sawatdee search engine produces 3 pages of posts.

It's on my list of places to visit when I come to Thailand in two weeks. If I make it there, you will get a full trip report sometime next year.
