Can anyone give the pro's & con's of the following condo's for rental:

Yensabi - Pattaya
Jomtien Beach Condo' - Jomtien
View Talay 1/2 - Jomtien

other recommendations would be appreciated.

I am looking for a condo, studio, tiled floor (no carpets), king or queen bed, cable tv, air con, price baht 10,000 to 20,000 per month for two to three months starting 26th May. I prefer Jomtien but would consider Pattaya.

Thanks

The cons: they're all in shitsville.

The pros: none.

If you're going to shagging every night with a new prize, the convenient choice is Yensabai. However, the boys won't be very impressed, which might be an advantage actually. Otherwise, you have to take baht buses back at night and enjoy the stares of the Russkies.

Just, condowise, View Talay 2 A is the best choice. Most modern of your options and closer to the main road.

Dear David,

sorry I could not reply to your pm but hope you read this.

Thank you so much for that, the personal experience of these places does help in making a decision. Yensabi was going to be a final option and your thoughts on this place have made me reconsider even this. I will look at View Talay 1 or 2 over the next few days and will probably plump for one of these options (building B in VT1 does seem nice and quiet and only a little away from things).

Unfortunately buying is not an option at this stage but thanks for your thoughts on this too.

Many thanks once again.

Hi Fatman41,

Another great option out at Jomtien is Jomtien Complex (Twin Towers).
I'm not sure if the rentals by suite owners is within your price range. I've noticed
a few folks advertising their units by the month in the 20 000 - 30 000 baht / month range for a studio.
That could be considerably less depending on when you want to be there.
A nice open air lobby, huge pool, (crappy gym), super gay convenience store(s), internet.
The lifts are never out in Tower A (North Tower) where I am, but I notice they take one of the three out of service often over in Tower B.
The glass lifts really impress the boys, especially when you are up on the 30th floor.
No one really notices you come and go, except the guards (and you are fine if you are escorting someone). Unescorted Thais must leave their card at the guard shack.
There is a private walkway that takes you down to the beach, beside the Sugar Palm Hotel.
Friends I know that are at View Talay complain about the distance to the beach.
The only hang up is that its hard to catch a baht bus to the city during rush hour, when everyone is heading home from the beach.
Your electricity bill could push the cost considerably upwards.
I'm back at home now so I don't know what the current status of View Talay 7, that they were planning for our front yard.
If you are interested, I will send you a contact for the place with some price ranges.
Another option is Center Condo, where many of my friends like to stay.
The suites there can be very nice, cheaper than Jomtien Complex.
The lifts there plain and simply scare the crap out of me.
People complain about the common areas, but if you are just passing through who gives a shit.
It is a very convenient place, great places to eat on South Road, Sunee and Boztown and Day & Night easily walkable.
If you are interested in that one I have a contact there as well.
Hope this helps pal,

I've some experience in renting in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. For what it's worth:

Yensabai Condotel has become a bit run down. But, as previously stated you're planning on taking advantage of the boys in Sunee Plaza, then it's most convenient. In fact, you may be able to stand on your balcony, if your apartment is on the correct side, and do your initial cruising from there!!

View Talays 1 and 2 are of course in Jomtien. A 10 baht bus ride from Pattaya, these two condos are similar to each other. The advantage to VT2 is that you can easily walk to the Jomtien Complex, and the several gay venues located therein. (Bondi has musical entertainment each night from 9:30 p.m. that appeals to old farts like me). View Talay 1 is older than VT2, and is on the wrong (North) side of the Theprasit/Thrapraya road intersection. And believe me, crossing that intersection on foot requires considerable courage and not a little luck. Having said that, VT1 is probably cheaper than VT2. I've stayed in VT2, and it was fine. Building B is a 5 minute longer walk to Thrapraya Road than Building A, but since you say you are circumferentially challenged, the walk may do you good!! I will stay, I hope, in VT2, Building A on my next trip to the LOS.

Why dont you try looking for a job so you can get your own flat instead of holidaying in Thailand every month.

I am sure you say this out of the warmth of your heart and consideration for my future BG. However, I like doing nothing (not working) and will continue to do so until the money runs out.

I stayed at the Yensabi Condos in Dec / Jan. The rate was good and the room although not well decorated, was clean... The location is just great for Sunee Plaza and Day / Night..

The common areas are showing some wear as are the hallways on the floors I visited..

Check this link as it shows some of the rooms for rent and prices..

Yensabai condos for rent are varied from sparse studios to well appointed one bedroom, 2 bedroom and even bigger.

You get what you pay for. Dont let the figures scare you. Relate everything back to your own currency.

Look at what 5000 baht per month extra is in your currency, and see if it will break your budget

A quality one bedroom condo with a seperate lounge/dining area might start at 20,000, but ask what price range is available. Compare that with a pokey rooom at Ambience, Cafe Royale for 1500 baht per night and the question is answered.

With a condo you might have a few extras that are included in the hotel charges, but you will come out better and a long way in front.

Ask for what you want and can afford. you will not be disappointed
