As if the Qantas and Jetstar strikes are enough, I have been advised that the airport might be closed for flooding.

Friends who have for months planned to be in BKK for the Royal Barge Procession are devasted at the delay, and the fact their planes might not be able to land.

I recall the discussion that the new airport was built on a swamp, but this is scary.

Any updates would be appreciated.

That must be truly devestateing for your friends lonelywombat worse than if they are thais whose housese have been flooded but there is good news in my newspaper where it says "Conditions in inner Bangkok and at most of Thailand's top tourist destinations are largely normal and Suvarnabhumi Airport - the capital's main international gateway, which has flood walls several metres high - is operating as usual"

OK as of today, Sunday 16 Oct...
however, TIT and as you probably know...
take what the Thais officials say with a grain of salt....
for sake of being assigned to an unassigned position.

Watch and read the Bangkok Post and Twitter tweets...

The daily update from ThaiVisa is excellent for reporting many sources of info
