Americans keep asking why everyone in the world hates them. Well this is one good reason. They just can't keep their nose out of everyone's business, even everyone's bedrooms. They want to force their morality down the throat of the world and if everyone doesn't kowtow to them they start dropping bombs their heads.

You sound like the Gestapo yourself laintopxxx. If the truth be told, America has become the biggest modern day fascist state in the world. The ambassador America has in the Philippines is only one example, and a very minor one at that. Everyone is sick and tired of hearing that Americans are number one in everything. The only thing left that they are number one in is stupidity. (That and Jesus freaks!) This country you extol is a "has-been" latintopxx. All that's left of America is a lot of hot air. In fact, most of the West has become irrelevant in the world today, but America leads the way into the cesspit. Number One Shithole!

thai dyed....not even dye can hide your true colours which are sickeningly racist and prejudiced....if the US or the west as you put it is no longer relevant or a shit hole why are boat loads of people from all over the world trying to get in.....
This is totally off topic and there can be no winner....as far as I'm concerned I would welcome the day when the developing world (whatever that is..) is on a par with the west where purchasing power is concerned so they can afford to buy the "shit"we make...win-win...

I assume from the above posts that you are French. I found the French to be very nice and polite, even in Paris. In my experience (such as multi-month trips backpacking in Europe during the Bush administration), just about everyone realizes that Americans have little to no influence over anything going on with our government. Apparently you are one of the few who never got the message. The ONLY people I've ever noticed as being consistently rude is old British males. Which is one reason I have no interest in ever visiting the UK.

Agree with you completely on the Fascist thing, but again, this is a government out of control. They don't give even half a shit about individual citizens. If we started protesting like they do in France and Greece we'd be locked up in some Dick Cheney torture prison somewhere. And yes, I hate the jesus freaks too..just look at my tagline! And it's particularly difficult for ME, since I live in the craziest state in this country, Texas. Texas is full of these fucking christians and I hate all of them. I would like to remind you though, that it's, in fact, EUROPE that has dedicated an ENTIRE FAKE COUNTRY to the christian religion, The Vatican, which is about the dumbest thing ever. While in Budapest, I greatly enjoyed the story about the citizens of Buda pushing the missionaries off the side of a mountain..they call it Gellert Hill now (next to the Gellert Hotel/Spa). They named it after one of the missionaries. I think they should have named it for the citizens..they were the ones with the common sense.

Funny, I thought it was the Russians who halted Hitler's advance. It cost 20 million of their countrymen and women their lives to do so. It's an insult to their memory to ignore that. Sadly such a blinkered view of the world is not unusual among your countrymen and women. :violent1:

The lasting contribution of the US to peace in Europe was financing the rebuilding after the war - at a considerable profit. The UK only managed to repay the interest on their war loans about 10 years ago. Gee, we in Europe owe you so much.

What I don't understand is why when everyone puts down American's, they lump us all altogether?
Sure we appear to have a vote, a say in everything, but the sad fact is that Washington continues to go it's merry old way no matter what we really say. Really, they don't send out questionaires as to what we think! If they did, they would realize that most people are not happy with this "policeman of the world" crap, the financing other nations and giving trillions of dollars away while we have so many problems at home we should be keeping an eye on and the fact that we can't pay our OWN bills!

Sure, I guess that if we did not try to get involved with "some" countries, that problems at home would be triple fold but I think our government goes far too far, and I resent being thrown in the heap with them!

I just wonder if we'll be having this same argument about Mainland China in 20 years...

I agree... I know a lot of Americans who are completely unlike the stereotype, which has made the country unpopular. Not fair on them.

ROFL... you champion.

I'm curious though. Why do you choose to live in Texas then? With the way you're describing it, I would HATE to live there. Sounds like the kind of place where it's near impossible to be only gay and have a decent social life with other gays.

Interesting thought Beachie but I used to live for several years in Colorado Springs, Colorado!
The home of about 53 fanatical Christian groups, the home of Focus on The Family and all.
I loved Colordo Springs and I kept my sexual comments to myself and thought the landcape and scenery, fresh air was a wonderful tradeoff.

I have traveled all over the world and currently live in china. My experience is that most people have a fondness and respect for Americans. I suspect the OP has some anger issues directed at the US. It happens but is not representative of the general world view.

I mean the Americans have done a great job of running the world for the last 70 years...and I am not being sarcastic. I am sure the OP and others will trot out their favorite horror story of American overreach in world events....yes yes..yes...dear boys.
But my opinion is the Americans are doing a pretty good job of running world affairs.

Funny, I thought it was the Russians who halted Hitler's advance.

You're talking about the OTHER front. The US and Russians met up officially at Torgau, Germany (which means the the Russians never advanced as far as France).

I really don't understand the apparent anti-American attitude of (some) French and (some) English. Neither of those countries has much room to complain about American imperialism. After all, it was the French who destroyed Vietnam by introducing the Catholic church, which eventually led to the Vietnam war (after the French ran away..as usual). And I suppose there wasn't much Christianity in India until the Brits rolled over that country and enslaved everyone. And yes, it was the Americans who made The Philippians the place it is now, having terrorized that country since the 1890's.

I'm curious though. Why do you choose to live in Texas then? With the way you're describing it, I would HATE to live there. Sounds like the kind of place where it's near impossible to be only gay and have a decent social life with other gays.

Texas is certainly not bad for EVERYONE, but for people like me..my politics and everything just don't fit with this place. Trying to work up the courage to move to SEA.

I like Colorado a lot (Boulder and Colorado Springs both seem nice), but it's the things you mention that have kept it off my list. Have been researching this a bit lately..right now my top states for relocation are Vermont, New Hampshire, and Oregon. But as I said above, really I'd just like to get over to SEA.

Colorado, Utah, and Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine I used to travel to when very young. Awsome places. Was in the Seattle area a few times on business and it seemed very overrun by commercialism and people. Give me the fresh air and mountains anyday!
I like the nights when you can open the windows and the cool breeze and fresh air come in. Waking up in the morning and having a beautiful scene of the snow capped mountains. Uhggh I am homesick!
But before anyone has a chance to jump on me, I also know why I am here in Thailand sweating my ass off! :dontknow:

Doesn't surprise me. You seem to thrive on putting yourself in conflict-rich environments. :rolling:

I could tolerate the presence of Christian fanatics. The main thing would be whether you can find like minded people to build relationships with.

I haven't spent much time in the US but I think it would be San Francisco, LA or New York... the sound of these places appeals most at a distance as I don't know much about the other areas.
