Synopsis from Wikipedia:-

Kafka is straight while Daniel happens to be gay. The young men fall in love, believing that their love can bridge anything, despite their difference in sexuality and Kafka's drug-taking. Daniel does not regret his love for Kafka, who tries to love him back against his nature. But a flashback memory from Kafka's past makes it difficult for their relationship to work. It turns out that their addiction to love proves more fatal than the drugs they use to explore the boundaries of their friendship.

The film stars Hong Kong Chinese actor and former model Byron Pang (Cantonese: Pang Koon-Kei), who was a runner-up contestant for Mr. Hong Kong in 2005, and Thomas Price, a half Chinese-half British actor who appeared in Permanent Residence and City Without Baseball. Like Scud's previous films, Permanent Residence (made in 2009) and the earlier City Without Baseball (2008), Amphetamine features full-frontal male nudity in many scenes, in among others, an outdoor fight scene in which Pang is stripped naked by other boys, gym showers, and a leap from a public building, in which Pang wears 'wings', and his whole body is covered in calligraphy and silver paint.

Amphetamine examines the limit of passion, and is the second of a trilogy: the first, called Permanent Residence, examines the limit of life, while the third, known as Life of an Artist, examines the limits of art. Amphetamine was screened at the Berlin International Film Festival on 15 February, 2010, and was also shown at the Hong Kong International Film Festival on its final day (6 April, 2010). The third film has not yet been released.

The level III-rated film met controversy in Hong Kong when the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority asked for several shots of anal intercourse to be cut before public screening. As the whole film had been allowed to screen as the closing film of the 34th Hong Kong International Film Festival, Scud protested against the authority's decision and complained to the Chief Executive Donald Tsang. The shots in concern were finally blackened-out but with sound in public screening as a protest by Scud.

The uncut version of the film is available on DVD and bluray from http://www.yesasia.com

I just watched it the other night. Starts off well and the way it sets the scene with the two different lives in Hong Kong is interesting. But it drags on waaay to much and is a bit too abstract in some places. The edits and flashbacks are a bit confusing. Director needs to be more disciplined. Acting could've been better. It should've shown more of a Hong Kong lifestyle.

The storyline is a bit depressing... one of the gay guys succumbs to drugs in a big way.

Otherwise, it was worth watching. The two lead actors are sexy and have quite a few nude scenes. :happy7:

There's a scene at the start where a sleazy old white guy desperately propositions a young Asian guy in the gym change rooms for cash... easy to picture LMTU being that pitiful creep. :rolling:

OK, here is my brief review.

The film is watchable.
It's not too dated.
There are lots of flesh scenes including hard ons but no hard core porn sex.
It is trying to be arty but it fails. Inspired a bit by south American style magical realism, but again, it doesn't work. I would call it total KITSCH.
You probably will not feel emotional involvement with the characters, or care about them in any way, except to see the next nudie scene.
Definitely not going to make it on any gay themed classics list.

I agree with most of this... though, I don't remember seeing "hard ons" as you say.

I really liked the start but it really went downhill after that.

It was jsut after midnight. Not enuogh time to go out. And I just found one, downloaded it, burned it to cd perfect fit, THX), played it wirelses on the HDTV from the new BD player. all this in about two hours. Send me a PM if you want a link.

Hit the wrong button, it stopped 20 minutes short, and my player won't navigate (seek back to) this movier some format reason. Good I found this - I guess I'm gonna figure out why some formats are like this.

So without the last 20 minutes ... I kinda saw that the problem was his partner was using amphetamines (the name of the movie), yet I really don't remember seeing anything about the problems it was causing (errr, except for waht they found in the pack of cigarettes - maybe just an excuse for a "probe" scene?)). I guess if its drugs, then it is just wrong.

The rape scene? Just an excuse for a gay rape scene? What was the excuse?

GREAT shower scene I think.

It goes downhill and the ending is probably the sloppiest bit so you didn't miss much.
