Return trip to Thailand

Hi guys, I am a long time lurker here and have enjoyed (some) of the give and take on this board and have picked up some valuable tips and insights.

After spending years (and years) enjoying the saunas of Brazil and Spain, a long time travelling friend of mine talked me into a trip to Thailand a few years ago. I knew that I wouldnt find my "type" here but wow...it was amazing...several days in Bangkok and Pattaya. We had a great time and we have returned once a year for the last 3 years. I have a fairly passive personality so I was fine just tagging along and letting my friend take the lead in all of our activities...which bars to visit, etc. Neither of us had any trouble finding all the company we wanted. I tend to be much more of a "home body" and reluctant to sit in a restaurant or bar alone than he does.

In 10 days I will be heading off to Thailand alone...and, while I know the ropes now, this will be my first trip flying solo. I know that I will hate sitting in a go-go bar (with few or no other customers) watching a stage full of beseeching/apathetic dancers. I know that I will hate that...but I'll be doing it, I suppose. I only have one type that I like....small, muscular/atheletic/macho...(hence the attraction to Brazil:)) but most of the bars have a couple that at least look the part. While in Bangkok I'm staying at the Rose Hotel and while in Pattaya the Cafe Royale. I've been checking out gayromeo for weeks, trying to identify alternatives to the bar (for at least during the day). I am assuming that it will so rainy that the beach will be out of the question.

Just a couple of questions....I dont want to be overpaying, as I have tended to do in the past. What would be a "generous" tip for a barboy in Bkk and in Pattaya? Also, any tips for gayromeo? The guys that I have had some contact with seem to have very limited English skills (and I have NO Thai skills). How specific should I been in specifying what I want? Hard body on body/wrestling/domination, etc. I suspect that is a put-off for most thais but I dont want there to be any disappoints in performance

In that case you might be a little disappointed with Thailand men/boys:

Brazilian men: 6.3 inches
Thai men: 4.0 inches

No, I'm not at all disappointed with the Thai guys....after all, this will be the 4th trip....just a little anxious about doing this trip solo....and trying to figure out how direct that I can be with the gayromeo guys without scaring them off....you can tell a guy in brazil that you love to wrestle and jujitsu and they are all over you....just trying to negotiate the different culture here.

You needn't go to a bar. You can go to a massage place, chat with a nice bunch of guys, find someone you like and pay the fee to use a room or go to your hotel. 1000 bt is minimum tip.

You can always hire a guide that can help you find what you are looking for. I love to help others find what they are looking for. I can ask questions for them to save them embarrassment and at the same time I get a flood of information about the guys for my own use later :tongue3:

Thanks for the comments.....I will be leaving on Wednesday for a short trip....a couple days in Bkk and 3 nights in Pattaya. I've made lots and lots of gayromeo contacts in BKK....hot looking guys, but who knows if they will show up, what they will look like, if they can communicate, if they will perform, etc....all of the risks one takes in an internet contact. While none of them are obviously moneyboys, I pointed out our age differences in my communications and offered up a $$ contribution. There were a few comments that they were not moneyboys, but no one flatly turned down the offers. Still planning on hitting a few of the go-go bars. In Pattaya, a little different.....not nearly as many good looking guys on gayromeo....lots of guys that look underage....but a few promising contacts....if anyone has any recommendations, I'd love to hear them. I've got a couple of prospects, though. Will be staying in boyztown, so the bars are definitely an option at night. Actually had a few guys refuse to come to hotel in Boyztown....didnt like the stigma....go figure. I plan on trying the massage places during the day....I enjoyed the few times I used them on my last trip. I know I wont have quality beach time on this trip....but hope that there are some sunny interludes.

Just returned to the US today from a quick one week trip....a few days in Bkk and a few on Pattaya. I was lucky, weather-wise....sun on all of my days and some good days at the pool or the beach. Just a few observations.....I was surprised at the number of clients in most of the go-go bars, being "low season". I arrived very late in Bkk...Thursday night...and there was a still a lot of activity in the Twightlight soi....checked out X Boy and there was a reasonable selection of boys and a number of clients...a surprising number of women. During the day on Friday and Saturday I met gayromeo guys....liked them both but they were both looking for foreign boyfriends and they were a little to eager. Friday night both X Boy and Bangkok Boys were packed with both clients and boys....standing room only for the show, though supposedly there was a large police bust on the soi that night. Saturday night it poured rain and I just called a couple gayromeo "escorts"....great time with both. Sunday I headed for Pattaya. Stayed in Boyztown....was shocked at the decline of BoyzBoyzBoyz......I was the only client at 9:00 on Sunday night....and just a few very, very, out of shape, bulky guys on the stage. Ambled over to A-Bomb....wow...what a difference a year makes. By far the best selection of guys that I have seen in any bar in Thailand in my 3 visits. There were probably 20 guys...not a bad looking one in the bunch. Monday went back...later, probably 11:00....many fewer guys, but again, all of them great looking. Tuesday I found my way to Happy Place....by coincidence, it was just about show time....the place was packed with clients...some came in and found no seating and left....nice show....nice selection of good looking guys....nice touches like the snacks that were served. Seems like a number of clients just came for the show.....ordered a drink and then let it sit for the duration of their visit and then left.

One of the recommendations I got here was to just get a "massage" boy.....wow...what a great suggestion. I had a couple of the massage boys near the hotel come to the room and had some of the best encounters yet! Thanks for the advise! Looking forward to a return trip in November.
