I'm heading to Ho Chi Mihn in early October and was wondering about the gay scene there. Internet research suggests it's pretty quiet.
Are there any massage places with happy endings?
Has anyone been there recently?

Thin pickings.

The following establishment is pleasant enough to spend a few hours relaxing in. However any extras were done so quickly & roughly that "unhappy ending" might be a better description. Flee to Cambodia as fast as possible.

Hi goji,
I went to Cambodia last year but didn't find much gay action anywhere. Are there any massage places you can recommend in Phnom Pehn??

Found lots of action at the Heart of Darkness Disco and met a few interesting local gays at Blue Chilli Bar (they took me to Heart of Darkness).

Went to a sauna... I think it was called "Galaxy" or something. Didn't find much action there. Mostly locals chatting with their friends.

Only massage I had was at Bodia but that's more of a luxury spa than a happy ending place.

I have actually found the gay scene in phnom penh to be absolutely thriving and very open and friendly. In some ways better than Thailand.

Can you tell me in whhat way you found PP better than Thailand?
I thought the Blue Chilli was a bit of a waste of time, and I couldn't find any massage places or other gay venues. Very hard to get laid in PP.
If there actually ARE gay places, I'll head back cos I quite liked the place.

I agree with you,

Brisboy82,

Please enlighten us both as I am of the same view as a447.

I found that apart from a few ugly effeminate MBs approaching twice in Blue Chilli, small activity. Heart of Darkness, I was with a waiter from the place where I stayed and we sat upstairs, so I saw no ' defined gay area ' as such.

I was also approached by a number of MBs and non MBs in Siem Reap but all too girly for my taste and no Castrol GTX boys available. The taxi guys flirt then dump you, Maybe just being silly or macho and expecting better tips.

Back on thread. I would love details on Vietnam too.

I think Brisboy's saying he found it better "in some ways"... i.e. not necessarily better overall.

But I'm curious what factors he's referring to as being better than Thailand anyway.

I had a great time and hooked up with a cute local almost every night. It was so good I never got around to exploring other bars outside Blue Chilli (only went once) and Heart of Darkness (went most nights) as HOD was just so awesome for meeting locals. But then I wasn't after paid sex so our perspectives will vary...

Some of the aspects of the phnom penh scene that I liked included the fact that the gay scene is very laid back and friendly and not commercialized in the way that it is in Thailand. The gay bars are proper gay bars rather than host bars which dominate the Thai scene. There were moneyboys sound but they were not the sole purpose of the bars such as blue chilli. You can go there and relax and have a few drinks and have no hassles from moneyboys.

In phnom penh I was constantly offered sex without any expectation for payment. It got to the point where people were fighting over me and I got slapped so hard that the whole of platoon club stopped dancing to see what was going on!

So basically the thing I like about the phnom penh scene is that theres so many guys available who just want a good time and are not expecting payment.

In Thailand there are plenty of such people too but the gay scene as a whole is very commercial.

I also like the fact that the Cambodians are a bit more adventurous. Like the very hot guy who met me at the urinal in heart of darkness and dragged me into the toilet cubicle for sex. We ended up upsetting the security staff quite a bit with that.

Ten there's the guy I met at heart of darkness who took me on his motorbike to the lake area and we hooked up on the floor of one of the lakefront floating restaurants.

Good times!

Well a447,

Don't know about you, it appears only these couple of drop dead gorgeous gays from ' down under ' can have the Cambodians drooling after them wherever they go, eh?

So, no mention of any big scene that me and you missed out on then?.......... That makes me feel better!

I share your disappointment with the gay scene, however I as do you, like the Country. It has a stronger buzz and vibe than Lao but I stick with what I said, Lao is far better ' tradewise' and the scene in Lao is none commercial, it's just the mentality is similar to the Thais sexwise.

There are many Lao who will have sex without monetary considerations but plenty of good/great looking ones that want money too such as those in the Universities. And long may it continue in my view.

I've said many times here, I am not after a new love of my life just like to spice up my existing life now and again. In my travels, I found many Cambodians I ran into wanting you to sponsor them through ' university, financial help etc as some kind of Sugar Daddy without the sex! I'll give that one a miss thanks.

I preferred the Cambodians I used to run into in Pattaya and even in the big house. They were far more accommodating but we must all speak as we find.

It's not just us young guys who get all the attention in phnom penh. I know one retired british expat who is around 70 years old. Every day he has to knock back hot young Guys who are trying to sleep with him. Some are friends of his boyfriend and some he just meets t the riverfront area while going about his daily business. He has to constantly knock them Back as he and his 20 year old cambodian boyfriend have a monogamous relationship.

Well,

Lol. Nice one Kev. I concur with your observations of the scene in PP. Just returned from a weekend in PP. Heart of Darkness not a bad place. Seemed to work well as a mixed club. I took the other half and he really enjoyed himself with all the farang attention there...lol. Blue Chilli I thought was god awful. A crap show and customers all standing outside on the street. The customers and boys had all seen better days in my mind. Give it a miss I reckon. Checked out Rainbow Bar(yet another camp show) aggghhh but some nice guys as hosts if that is what you're looking for. Checked out GR which was not that busy and many many money boys. Ended up with a young Aussie guy off there as I was having trouble getting local guys into my hotel. PP ok for a weekend but in no way can it be compared to the Thailand scene. Considering the country's history maybe give it a few years and the guys will have woken up the commercial aspects of the business :bounce:

Thanks... I disagree with your notion that the Phnom Penh gay scene is not as "commercialised" as the one in Thailand.

I think both countries have a reasonably clear line between the normal/genuine gay scene and commercial sex scene and it's just as easy to find both types of scenes in both countries.

It's as easy to find the normal/genuine gay scene in Bangkok as it is in Phnom Penh. But I think tourists in Bangkok might go to the gogo bars first because they're the most visible for tourists, as opposed to PP where the most visible gay or gay-mixed bars, Blue Chilli and HOD, aren't gogo bars at all.

Having said that, everyone has a different experience and you've probably spent more time there than I have. I was only in Phnom Penh for a week.

LOL... you're going to have to tell us what happened there. How did YOU get slapped?!

I described in a previous post how invited a cute Cambodian guy I met at HOD back to my place. His jealous mate who had been hitting on me all night followed us and they ended up having an extended shoving match in my hotel! Shocker of a night that was... Got a lot of smiles from the hotel security guard too!

Hence the sarcasm in response to the suggestion that the scene in Cambodia is as commercialized as in Thailand.

Thailand is more commercialized in the sense that the vast majority of farang oriented gay bars in thailan exist entirely for the single purpose of prostituting their staff out to the customers. Whereas in Cambodia the moneyboys are incidental and operate independently from the bars which exist to profit from the sale of drinks rather than from renting out the bar staff.

September 19th, 2011, 10:19
Brisboy82,

That's exactly right. I was disappointed on the whole with PP until I stopped looking at the place through my ' Thai eyes ' since returning to Lao.

I did give my FB and e mail to quite a few people, since then I seriously have been inundated with ' offers ' for when I next return , which is next month.

These offers, including offers to come and stay at my hotel, have been from non-commercial boys, although I have found the same story with them as I found on GR regards Lao ' university graduates ' the offer of a bit of money never gets turned down if it is worded correctly such as, ' This is for gasoline for your motorbike ' or ' Please get you and your friends something to eat from me ' or ' Why don't you buy those jeans you liked in the Russian Market '

We all know what it is, it's all in the wording!....... :thumbleft:

As far as I know, there's no gogo bars in PP. Plenty of moneyboys though. They're quite visible at Blue Chilli Bar.

I am going to HCMC in a months time! I can't wait. This will be my first time there. Going there with a female friend. :love4: :sign5:

Hmm I will be staying in District 1 near Ben Than Market.

Some of you may know that I am a muscle lover!! LOL.

But they do not have a scene like BKK's Tawan or bars.

Now my question is, how do one, attract a muscle guy in HCMC, for the same "paid" services. I was thinking of going to local gyms (which I'm researching where) and try to make friends with the locals there in hopes that it can turn out to something beneficial for both of us. But I am not sure of the success rate. :drv:

What about cafes or moneyboys....any ideas if any of them are muscled? I doubt I can ever find a bodybuilder build. But I am still hopeful. Would be great if someone can give me some insights.

I am also worried about scams and dangers of MBs posing as well, MBs. Who knows they might be up to something.... :bot:

Well, I miss SGT! CHANGED A LOT!! HAHHHAA

And of course, Tawan, I will be visiting you right after HCMC! HAHHAHAH :sex:

Ok let me know yah! :P

I received a PM asking what I knew about about the Purple Dragon gay tours to Vietnam. My two trips to HCMC were organized through Utopia and I notice from the link
Purple Dragon offices are in the same place as Utopia offices were.

I dont know the history but there was court case about soft porn, and my guess is its still the same business.

This website on the various tours is impressive and whilst the company has been around 20 years ,I dont know who operates it now. I intend to spend some time browsing all their tours as some of them look just what I am have been searching for. Having a tour guide in Vietnam was a huge bonus. Straight friends have recommended the Halong bay cruise
