Heh... in the current issue of Out In Thailand Magazine, there's a story with an uncanny resemblance to that of one of our members. Dodger?

I spotted it because the headline was "Thep & I" and Dodger says his boyfriend's name is Thep.

Thep & I тАУ Part One; The Crossroads

I am married to a Thai guy, Thep. He once worked as a prostitute. Thep lacks formal education above the third grade. He was abandoned by his parents at age nine and raised by his grandmother in an impoverished farming village near the Thai /Cambodian border. He left home aged fifteen, entered the Pattaya working scene, became addicted to drugs (yaba) and spent the past three years struggling to recover from his addiction...

Yes, that would be me.

OIT has showed an interest in some of my scribblings and I have given my permission for them to run a series.

Unfortunately, I have not received the e:mail verification from OIT needed to complete the registration process - so I can not read the artical myself, although, since I wrote it - I already know what it says.

I hope you enjoy the read.

If your read further (second paragraph), it sound very much like the story cdnmatt wrote about his boyfriend:

Prior to our meeting he had already spent two years working. He was blessed with a combination of above average looks and a high level of street savvy. He sent the majority his money home to help his family and managed three separate bank accounts primarily for concealing the amount of money he was making from street vultures. He mastered the art of survival, fending off those who wanted to borrow money, those who attempted to flat-out steal his money and the MamasanтАЩs who always had their hand in the pot. Then he had the task of navigating around the myriad of customers during the course of his work. Not an easy task for an uneducated 15-year-old boy from the jungle.
