View Full Version : Fast Track entry at the airport?

May 3rd, 2011, 10:12
Does anyone have any information on the "fast track" service at the Airport?
I did notice this entry and apparently there is no lining up at immigration on arrival and departure.

I had heard it was for first class passengers only, but a friend told me that a Company in Bangkok is arranging this service to everyone for a fee around the 5000b mark, certainly seems a bit steep, but maybe worth it for those who do not wish to line up at immigration.

It would be great to be picked up by the mini car at the plane arrival and whisked through immigration without lining up,especially after a long flight.
Do we have a link for this service or has anyone used it?

For some reason (This Is Thailand??) a Search on the thaiair.com takes you to an Australian page (http://www.thaiairways.com.au/thai_special_offers_desc.asp?special_cat=Special%2 0Offers&id=343) but it seems it's available for everyone who flies with TG provided it's two passengers travelling together - so if you're travelling from Australia with lonelywombat, you're eligible

I have used this excellent service.

The rep meets you at the airbridge and escorts you through all formalites leaving you at the exit where your limo is waiting.

If you travel Business or First on many airlines they give you a "fast track" invite with the immigration card.

I travel Business with Emirates and, yes, you are given the Fast Track ticket with your immigration papers but there is no pick up or assistance from the plane when disembarking.

Still, it makes a huge difference... may I suggest to those who don't fancy lining up and who are in possession of a certain brass neck that they perhaps mumble to the Fast Track officers that they lost the ticket (and even the boarding card for that matter) and offer an apologetic shrug?

Nah perhaps not. :dontknow:

The service you are describing is available via Image limousine Co (as already mentioned) for 1800B per person, rather than 5000B.
But they state that the price includes delivering you to their "sedan" - the implication being they expect you to use them to get to your final destination.
They also quote a package to BKK or Pattaya - but it's unclear if the package price is per person which - if you are travelling with a companion - it oughtn't to be as you don't normally pay per person for a taxi.

Anybody know the answer to that?

:dontknow:

So that would be 1800 baht plus the Limo fee to Pattaya? Would that be correct?

There aparently is several other Companies offering this service but I am waiting on links before I post them,I gather most would be transport services.

Do you actually go through the normal steps when going through fast track such as seeing a immigration officer personally on arrival?

It's nice to get the VIP treatment, but I can't justify it as I've never waited more than 5-10 mins in line at immigration (usually less than 5 mins) and it only takes me 2-3 mins to go upstairs and get an incoming cab driver who will be grateful he doesn't have to wait 1-2 hours to get a fare from the arrivals level.

... I've never waited more than 5-10 mins in line at immigration....

You're surely not serious?

Are you in a different queue?

Do you turn up at 4am on a Sunday or something?

Or do you not need a visa on arrival?

I have NEVER waited less than 30 mins and often more like 45 mins.

You'll have to solve this mystery

2 hours is my record for waiting in immigration...

Arrived in at same time as 2 Chinese planes and a Japanese flight

Japanese got in first, then us, then the chinese

Chinese barged their way to the front of the queue, Japanese were too polite to stop them, meanwhile us farang were stuck at the back!
4 hours later the yellow shirts closed the airport... Guess the Chinese knew something the rest of us didn't!

Do you actually go through the normal steps when going through fast track such as seeing a immigration officer personally on arrival?I have only used the fast track on departure. I can't give you any further info other than on KLM/AirFrance you receive a fast-track ticket if 1st or Business class on departure from Thailand. I received one by accident on my last visit when i checked-in on the business class desk as i have a freq flyer card and I think the check-in girl thought i was travelling business, i was actually travelling economy in the Comfort Zone, and i don't think it would have been for that.

Anyway, the departure routine via the fast track follows exactly the same steps as the normal immigration except no/very little Q. You get a pass ticket and the immigration guy keeps the main ticket part and gives you back the stub. I had noticed a large farang going to the normal immigration lines as I went to the fast track, he appeared at security just as I was leaving the security area about 2 minutes behind me, so it just depends how busy and how many officials are working the immigration when you go through.

I've never waited more than 5-10 mins in line at immigration (usually less than 5 minsYep thats been my experience over the last decade and 35+ trips. I normally arrive at 12-1pm. My tip for a quick exit.......the first thing to do is get ahead of your fellow passengers. All you need to do is walk quickly and avoid the moving walkways as they normally clog up. I think there may be 3 immigration areas, two definitely. As the flights come in most passengers just head up the first immigration area they come to, even seasoned travellers. What to do is walk quickly again on to the next immigration area, which I usually find to be empty, or maybe a few passengers if there has been a fluke of an arrival at a disembarking gate closer to immigration 2. Normally there are a few immigration desks with maybe one or two passenegrs at each. There have been times i've just walked straight up to an officer and through in 2 mins. Virtually every time i go through in 5 mins and walk back to the luggage area past immigration 1 where the rest of my fellow passengers and all the other flights which have arrived at the same gate areas join massive Q's.
I have used this excellent service. The rep meets you at the airbridge and escorts you through all formalites leaving you at the exit where your limo is waiting. So on arrival, what is the actual "excellent service" being paid for over and above the following....... I walk unescorted from the airbidge to immigration, get the stamps, head to luggage pick up my bags which are always already there, walk unescorted through customs with my luggage cart to a waiting taxi outside the terminal where the taxi driver takes my luggage cart from me and puts the luggage in the car. What am I missing out on?

I've heard, that it is possible to use the fast-track lane and pay the immigration officer THB 1200 upon passing his desk.

I think there are a number of companies that sell the VIP meet and greet service that includes fast track.

F class passengers on most airlines get it as a perk. And business class also does on several airlines. I believe I read recently that Thai airways has their own fast track immigration line now for business and first class passengers.

Are you freaking serious, Scottish? No wonder so many farang bitch about the immigration lines!

Honestly, I find Bangkok immigration is even quicker than Sydney airport where I've often found myself waiting 15-20 mins in line for immigration. Although, Sydney is MUCH better since they introduced the electronic immigration processing machine. People like me with smart-chipped passports can skip the immigration officers and just use this machine (it has face recognition technology) to go straight through.

Are you in a different queue?

Do you turn up at 4am on a Sunday or something?
I tend to fly into Bangkok from different places - sometimes direct from Sydney, sometimes from a neighbouring country - so don't always arrive at the same time but tend to time most of my arrivals for between 6-11pm. 10pm arrivals are my favourite... I can check into my hotel, grab a shower and be in the nightclub before midnight.

I don't look for other immigration areas as Newalaan suggests but I walk quickly to get ahead of other schmucks bumbling along. Least you can do is make sure you're not competing with anyone from your own flight. When I get to the desks, there's usually no more than a few people ahead of me and I'm out within 5-10 mins at most.

This is why I HATE carrying checked luggage into Bangkok because if I clear immigration in 5 mins I still have to wait 20 mins for my bags to come out... ridiculous. I usually expect to be checked into my hotel within 60-75 mins of touch down.

I love the drive into Bangkok from the airport. Getting on the freeway you're almost immediately beside skyscrapers and billboards and you can see the Bangkok skyline in the distance getting closer...

Do they insist on being paid upfront, or can you pay cash on arrival? Their on line payment form asks for more information about me than is ever going to get sent by fax or email.

Ceejay, there are a few other Companies that provide this service too, some of which only provide the first half, that is getting you through immigration quick then you are on your own to choose your own transport if thats what you prefer.

For some reason (This Is Thailand??) a Search on the thaiair.com takes you to an Australian page (http://www.thaiairways.com.au/thai_special_offers_desc.asp?special_cat=Special%2 0Offers&id=343)

Perhaps that is because there is Fast Track Immigration available at major airports in Australia but only for Australian passport holders...you place your passport in a machine, get a slip and walk through the gate.

If you are a no entry I imagine the red light flashes, the bell rings and they come to get you!

I also get that Bangkok feeling on the taxi ride from the airport, although for me it starts earlier when boarding my Thai Air flight and seeing the rows of purple seats.......then I am almost back inThailand.
