In all seriousness, I am encouraged by a story in a UK newspaper about a promising treatment for Alzheimers which could be available within two years.
The bapineuzumab jab prevents, and in some cases can reverse, the build up of amyloid, the toxic protein which can build up in the brain of dementia sufferers and is thought to be linked to the onset of symptoms such as memory loss and mental impairment. The full story is avilable here (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8469346/Alzheimers-vaccine-could-be-available-in-two-years.html).

It is a very very serious affliction and I know the pain and suffering these people go through first hand. My mother came down with Alzheimers at the age of 59 and my father, her husband became so distraught that he went into depression and committed suicide. I took care of my mother for three painful and agonizing years. I forget too much and I always wonder if I have it through her genes. I would be interested if they are taking more volunteers for the medical study and what the requirements would be?
Thonglor55, thanks so much for the article!!

failed at trials.

http://tabloid-watch.blogspot.com/2012/ ... rials.html (http://tabloid-watch.blogspot.com/2012/08/wonder-jab-fails-in-clinical-trials.html)

Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson are ending development of an intravenous formulation of a drug to treat Alzheimer's disease after the treatment failed in two late-stage clinical trials.

The companies hoped bapineuzumab intravenous would slow the decline in physical and mental function for patients with Alzheimer's. However the drug did not work better than a placebo in two late-stage trials in patients who had mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease...

The two companies said on July 23 that the drug had failed in a different trial. All other studies are now being discontinued.

This is a clear example of why papers such as the Express should avoid sensationalist headlines that can give false hope.

Recently came across this in stocks info. Anatabine being used as tobacco withdrawl supplement reduced inflammations which may lead to amloyd buildup in the brain.
Currently available for sale as CiGRX (.3 mg / dose, soon discontinued) and Anatabloc ( 1mg/dose) as anti inflammatory.

Star Scientific STSI closed Friday @ 2.95/share

Just bought 3 cartons of CiGRx as tobacco replacement stuff is reimbursable through our company plan.
They will not be producing this version much longer.
Sounds like it's good for aches and pains as well..

This was after I bought ~1600 shares at a higher price. Couldn't make it to the bank
because of Thursdays blizzard or I might have bought lots more. :P
