View Full Version : Flight specialists advice

April 8th, 2011, 02:59
Hi Gents,

Old subject but these things need constantly updating and refreshing.

From the UK, who are you guys using for good quality business flights to Asia at the moment please?? We're talking flight specialists as opposed to all in deals. :dontknow: :dontknow:

Many times on this board there are some gems of advice that can surface. :lam:

Any sensible advice appreciated...... :notworthy: :notworthy:

probably depends to an extent whether you want to fly non-stop, where in Asia you want to go, etc. Qatar Airways has good business class deals and service via Doha from time to time. Other Gulf carriers may match them.

The forums at FlyerTalk are a great resource for all things flying. www.flyertalk.com (http://www.flyertalk.com)

A good fare search engine is ITA http://matrix.itasoftware.com/

Cheers fedssocr,

I will look.I have been on Qatar website but shops in London are doing better prices for Qatar than Qatar!

I have flown with them many times and will happily go with them on a deal. Great first class terminal in Doha too.

Hi Kev,

http://www.asiatravel.com are generally a good consolidator( as opposed to just travel/booking agency). I just checked Biz Class from UK to BKK end April as an example for you for a month from end April. Cost about 1100 quid which is good value as it's Austria Airlines. Also others to look for would be http://www.opodo.co.uk which will get you there with Sri Lankan Airlines( a good option in Biz class as thier aircraft are pretty new and the company was managed by Emirates until recently), therefore it's still a decent quality product. Return for 800 quid at the same time I just checked...bargain. I tend to use Emirates as I'm based in Dubai right now although moving back to UK end May for job promotion. I'll be in and around Bangkok/Pattaya from next week for around 5 weeks if anyone is around for a few beers. :bounce:

Exactly,

No inclination or wish to go there unless I am catching a flght connection. The sparkle of that place has gone for me. :crybaby:

Next time I speak to some of those people I hope its through a 'Medium'.. :laughing3:

a big World out there with Laos,China, Cambodia....even Bali is appealing. :love4: :love4:

Hi,

Will do. I love giving the true picture 'warts and all' on my travels and I love getting information back in the same way. It leads to better value for money, more enjoyable visits and avoiding the scams.

As I said before, thi board at its best can be a great useful source of information.

Thanks guys fo the tips so far on flights, please advise as I am still looking. Best deal I see so far is ┬г1850 on Turkish Air to Singapore.

I then have to make my own way to Laos/Cambodia. A lot of those advertising Qatar in London are EXAMPLES of flights, not genuine flight deals. COMEFLI in London being an example of this type of marketing when you read the smallprint :headbang:

Thank you I'll check.

Incidentally guys, as I was saying about a company (Comefli) on the web advertising great named airlines and when you contact them as I have done today and yesterday, they don't have these flights.

The best they have been able to offer me from Manchester includes a trip in the opposite direction to Helsinki and then a long haul to Singapore at a cost of ┬г2350.I don't think so.

Also lexus my PM is not reaching you,but seems to be working with other members??.. :dontknow: :dontknow:

I am n kevinquill55@gmail.com as well if you can give me the link as I cannot seem to get it from the UK on Asiaflights for Lufthansa. If its a problem, please never mind and thanks for trying for me. I would take the Lufthansa deal......... :lam: .

Love german efficiency in engineering and especially the winged variety!!.. :laughing3:

Another quick question, I was told by a flight specialist today, they no longer have ' open ' tickets, when did that come in???

*********** Just in************* Qatar ┬г2385 China ┬г1650 and Lufthansa ┬г2150

Any views please??? Qatar I am well aware of having travelled four or five times with them. :dontknow: :dontknow:

I have heard bad things about Air China, but no first hand experience in the air.
My one "brush" with them on the ground in PEK was enough for me to know it is not worth the aggravation.

Wish I could help you better info, but I am US based and have very limited experience getting to Asia from EU parts of the world.

Good luck.

Cheers,

I think Air China is Chinese and China Air is Taiwan based, but you are right and I don't fancy either! ..... :dontknow:

I like Qatar,Etihad,Emirates,Lufthansa, and I'll probably go with one of them and I love the lounge in Doha with Qatar. :sunny:

KLM are OK but their planes are getting old. :headbang:

I don't like B.A. Eva air used to be good,Swiss scares me a bit,so I won't bother with them either. :tongue3:

Thanks gents for the links and tips/advice. :notworthy:

Hey Martin,

Agreed on Manila and a very busy GR experience there! Boracay has great beaches but I thought the nightlife was seriously lacking to the point of boredom. Just my opinion. Did n't really come across any true gay bars etc etc. I could have missed some though :hello1:

Hi,

It sounds a good place, I'll check it out with my resident expert on that part of the World, Wesley. He seems to know that place back to front and lives over there a good part of the year.

It sounds a totally different experience to the straightforward Wham bam, thank you man of Pattaya.

Cheers,

Cambodia is great, you should try Malaysia Airlines, their site now is based now on a sort of Easyjet style ticket pricing feature, along with business class, the good thing with Malaysia is that Air Asia fly cheaply to Cambodia and also include a premium class. And Malaysia Airlines use British Midland (I think) to get from places like Manchester to Heathrow all included in the cost. Malaysia Airlines web site is quite good - you can select your flights by each segment. I think the key behind flights is "convenience" and "easy transfer times".

Postscript, just checked the dates I wanted and Malaysia Airlines all the way through to Siem Reap is ┬г3000 odd - ermm! Bit much for me.

Hi Kevin -
--yes Wes will give u plenty of info --i actually meet him over there by chance one evening while he was having a cold San Mig outside O Bar (and looking at the eye candy passing by )-- it was his info that presuaded me to try Manila back in 08 --i stayed in the Pan Pacific hotel (5min walk from the gay area )and went on from there !!!

I agree its a totally diff experience from Pattaya --for starters there is usually only 5/6 farang in any club ---so so easy to hook up --and they are all really adventurous (loads of group sex parties happen after clubs close )--my first weekend there i met this guy ,we still hang out together --i kid you not --there has been many times we have 7/8/9 + guys coming home with us for playtime --

one time i will never forget ,i was staying in the Penninsula Hotel (fab hotel ,u get the whole Penn experience for 1/4 the bkk or hkg price <120 usd )--and we came back to hotel at 7 in morn , in 2 crappy looking taxis ,and 10 of us walked (unsteadly ) across the lobby to the elevators and i was praying that management would not stop us --they didnt blink an eye and we partied all day !!!
Great place !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Like the sound of that.

Mind you I used to take in 3/4 in Bangkok but security did give you the eye and a bit of tut tutting.

I have fancied the Phillippines now for while.

Whitedesire,

Yes, the flights all tend to go tits up whn you put in you would like to go straight through to Siem Reap. Never mind, where there's a will.............I want to be in it! :laughing3:
