In the heart of gayest New York City

Well, here is a story from the gayest part of gay New York, just a couple of blocks from Stonewall. Isn't that the gay world's Mecca and holiest site? It looks like things are getting much better there in that gays don't have to travel away from the gay ghetto in order to get beaten up and killed. The last part of the story deals with an 18 year old in New York City who was beaten to death two weeks ago because he was thought to be gay. Yeah, things are just hunky-dory! Over the past few years there have also been a notable increase in attacks on gays in France. It's regrettable to see this happening in this predominantly gay area of New York. And the story about the 18 year old who was bludgeoned to death just a few weeks earlier because he had gay friends is heart rending.
