April 9th - 16th. In KK at least, the water gets thrown around from the 12th - 15th, but Pattaya always starts earlier and ends later. And of course the bars will be open. They'll bring in more during that one week than probably the following 3 months.

Personally, I can't wait for Songkran. I'm just stuck sitting up here everyday, working away to provide for everyone, etc. I'm loving life these days, but nonetheless, I don't really ever get to do anything fun. So come Songkran, I'm going to make sure to bring in the new year the right way. That will be my well deserved break, where I don't have to worry about anything except having a good time. :)

It's going to be 13 times as busy during a one-week period as it will be for the following 13 weeks? The sum of business transacted during those the thirteen weeks will not exceed the sum of business transacted during the week of Songkran? Amazing. Can I buy the lease on a bar just for Songkran week do you think? Would one of our inn-keepers who contribute to the Forum like to comment?

I thought we only had brothel-keepers on SGT.

That's a bit rude given I am a graphic designer.

Sorry Krobbie - I meant brothel-keepers as opposed to inn-keepers

I have done the Songkran festival twice since I have been coming to Thailand and loved every minute of it.

The discos I had gone to in BKK were always packed and full of people just wanting to party and have a great time celebrating the new year. It was also the only times I've gotten so drunk that I had to be carried home. I don't ever remember partying so hard in my life.

As for Pattaya, I look forward to being party of the Songkran festivities there next year. I keep hearing mixed reviews about Pattaya's Songkran activities so I want to experience it for myself. However, I just can't imagine Songkran without a scene like the one in the attached video. Every time I see it I want to just get wet and dance...LOL.

Bangkok_ Yes, bars such as the ones on soi 4 and soi 2 will be packed. (These are gay bars and dance clubs)
Pattaya - Many of the go-go boys go back to Isaan for the holiday, that kind of bar life is not as good.

Hi,

And some of the bars in Bangkok close as well, those that can't be bothered with it all. I seem to recall that in Soi 4 there were some that closed for Songkran,No?? Balcony??

You know what I might do? Get one of my guys to develop a Firefox extension for this. Someone developed one for another (much larger) board I post on, and it's excellent! You just enter in the usernames of those you want blocked, and voila, they simply disappear from the board. None of these "you can't view this message because the user is on ignore" messages, no seeing what others quote from that user, nothing. The entire member simply vanishes. It's brilliant!

I think I might actually do that. :)

One would hope that Our Matt's programmers are more capable at writing a Firefox extension that actually works ie. is logically correct, than Matt himself appears to be at providing logical statements. But perhaps those well-known family values guys, the pornographers to whom Matt dedicates his skills, are prepared to put up with shoddy work? Beachlover, where art thou when thy fellow Stooges need a hand?

failing to address the issue

Because your dumb ass doesn't deserve a cordial response.

Treat people how you want to be treated.

I can't do a Firefox extension personally, but a firm I funnel a decent amount of work to could easily do it. I could put the work order in, but it'd be about $400 probably. So more than likely, I won't bother.

That video of Silom Rd in the day during Songkran looks fun! Thanks for posting. It looks like a beach party in the middle of the street!
