View Full Version : Do KFC, Pizza Hut, etc deliver food to hotel room ?

March 24th, 2011, 03:35
I was wondering can I order food thru phone and have them delivered to my room.

March 24th, 2011, 05:00
Yes, the phone numbers are posted on signs at the locations themselves and they often have take-away phone-in menus. You could also try asking at the reception desk where you're staying - they'd probably be able to give you the numbers, too, but you'd have better luck with a menu to order "by number" off of.

It's nice to eat the local fare but on rare occasions that stuff can be comfort food when you're far from home for a an extended stay.

I thought the national call centre number was 1150 for both KFCand Pizza Hut. They're not fussy and will deliver anywhere. :snorting: :snorting:

Dear, I was skimming over the posts from this OP PanaramaS or whatever it is and he has asked 3 or 4 different times about Chaing Mai for different places to stay etc over a period of a year and various other lame questions. almost sounds like a Cedric. My God there are motorbikes everywhere and signs on every street for deliveries. Get a grip. I think he is lonely.

Anyone coming all the way to Thailand and then eating that processed rubbish, for delivery or otherwise, needs a talking to.

Having said that I confess to running in one day and ordering 2 cheese burgers (no pickle) as I was particularly hungry and in a rush. I was bowled over by all the school children. Girls especially seem to like to meet their mates their after school. This may only be the one at Sathorn on Charoen Krung but I doubt it.

Yep,

PAYBACK!!! but it took the yanks to do it without a shot fired, Well done KFC and Macdonalds! :laughing3: :laughing3:

Wait until people continuously try serving you Issan food everyday, and you'll probably be running to KFC. :-) I'll agree with you though, Thai food is great. Much of it is very simplistic to make, but tastes great. You won't generally see Thais (at least up here) spending an hour or two to make a nice meal. It's 15 mins from start to finish, and here's your plate. If you goto a stall with everything ready and chopped up, it's 2 mins. There's no waiting for things to marinate, simmer, etc.

Have the family living here now, so apparently, we have to eat shitty Issan food everyday now. Kim and myself are coming up with ways to change this, but it's us 2 against 6 of them, lol. :) I won't touch the stuff though. If the dog doesn't want to eat it, neither do I. Nowadays, when I goto the market to get the dog some food, I drop by a small restaurant there, and grab myself something. Lots of times Kim and his little brother will sneak away with me, so mama doesn't see we're eating the "expensive" food.

Then mama has her gwuae-tiao stall setup on the street corner, so sure enough, five times a day I hear, "want some gwuae-tiao? it's free you know!. I do like it, but one or twice a week, not several times a day. Then Kim's beside her selling somtam, papaya, and other disgusting shit I won't touch. Thinking of investing 10,000 into him, and getting his little stall setup into a decent kitchen. Make him more money, and when I'm hungry, I just walk 30 feet from the house, and he'll cook me up some nice pad thai gai, khao phad moo, kapow moo sap, dom yam or whatever. Would be great!

Anyway, I'm obviously blabbing about nothing, so I'll stop... Point is, Issan food is disgusting shit I wouldn't even feed my dog (he wouldn't eat it anyway), but Thai food is great! Like krobbie said, if you come to Thailand but stick to Western food, you're missing out.

Just curious, Matt - have you informed Kim that what he's cooking and serving is "disgusting shit" as you say it is, and how does/did he react? I should think he'd have at least had his feelings hurt, but I'm just guessing.

Isaan food is Thai food so your post was a little bewildering, but perhaps it was a local specialty or two you didn't care for. I've liked most of the food served to me in people's homes in Thailand. Not all of it, but most of it.

Bao Bao,

Isaarn food,I eat nearly all of it,including Laarb Moo/Gai/Plaa, Som Tam,Gop, bring it on.

I do find the Tom Yam served at street stalls and some other Thai dishes tend to be of inferior quality and taste though, and I was only down the road from KK.in Kalasin.

I draw the line at dog, which regardless of what they deny, certain members of Issarn DO eat. :headbang:

Nah, I absolutely love Kim's cooking, and he knows that. He's a great cook. The Issan food they eat everyday now though, I won't touch it, and he knows that. Him and his brother don't like it either, hence why it takes 3 people to goto the market everyday to get the dog a bit of food. :-) It's just because mama thinks it's a waste to spend more than 100 baht on a family meal, so they eat the shitty Issan food every night. I just let it be for now, because everyone is taking care of themselves, and eating what they can afford to eat. They're all staying here for free, so I'm not about to jump in, and pickup the food bill for 8 people. Things can stay as they are for now.

Anyway, Kim could care less that I won't eat Issan food. It's the same as when a farang friend and myself are sitting in the back of his truck in front of my house, having a couple beers, then order up some pizza. Kim thinks it's disgusting, but we're both adults, and realize we come from different cultures, so no worries, nobodies feelings are getting hurt.

Ummm, no, it's not. :) If you don't believe me, feel free to come by my house anytime. Consider "Thai" as in those who live in Bangkok and surrounding area. Issan folk have a different language, culture, food, and even skin color. Trust me.

I was just wondering because your comments sound mean-spirited and it's not always possible to tell when a person's being a prick or just joking around. Glad if you're on the same page with your friend, though.

On the other point - sorry to disagree but although you could say Isaan food is regionally different it IS still Thai food; and while I believe you meant there are different dialects and mishmashes of Thai/Khmer/Lao I also think it would still be considered to be Thai. God knows there are enough folks from some parts of the US that are difficult to understand but it's said they're speaking English!

Many wonderful nuances to the region, though, I agree. I've enjoyed times there myself.

Hi,

I won't get into the pros and cons of it all but my partner considers himself to have more of an affinity with Laos than he does with Thailand, particularly Bangkok where they consider themselves superior in this never ending class system.

Let's be realistic,he speaks Lao,eats Lao, and Laos is 1 hour away with Bangkok being 10 hours away, and many years ago was Laos. Thailand seems more of a geographic point to them than a day to day living situation.

Khymer,I think we are talking something totally different. They don't speak tonal, their main dislikes and hatred is actually towards the Vietnamese and although Buddhist, consider them nearer in origin to Indian, (if anyone),where Buddhism originated of course. I am reading Pol Pot at the moment.

OR are you referring to the likes of Buri Ram and surrounding areas, where they have an understanding of Khymer, but remain Thai with the Thai language intact.

I may be wrong but that is how I understood it to be. :sunny:

I probably ought to have been careful about generalizations, Kevin - my mistake. I figured unless they're cooking regional dishes from another country that it was safe to call it Thai food: cooked in Thailand with Thai ingredients by Thai people - but I get your point. Thanks for pointing it out.

Matt's (also general) statement that "Issan food is disgusting shit I wouldn't even feed my dog (he wouldn't eat it anyway)" kind of threw me, I guess, but he's certainly entitled to his opinion. I've had poorly prepared and borderline-spoiled food in Isaan, but nothing that I'd rate as he did.

I agree with you,

There are some Cafes,as opposed to restaurants that prepare great Isaarn food but the standards are more wide and varied with the street stalls.

I mentioned that earlier, because I was saying that some of the Tom Yam soups and/or the Laarb tends to be better prepared and more palatable in the cafes than the street stalls, who gear everything up to price so therefore keep it cheap.............but with cheap something suffers, and if its street stalls, inevitably its quality of foods and ingredients used.

Street stalls because of size limitations as well tend to produce only one or two dishes that they specialise in,so you've to go to about five stalls to make a varied meal!

Tam tends to mix it up a bit as he likes all sorts of food and some delicacies ( to them!) are only available on the street and at certain times of the year!

You should see it when it rains in Isaarn and they boys are out at 2.00 am with miners hats with lamps on them looking for frogs in grasslands around the villages.

These guys are innovative if nothing else!

Ah well... Sometimes people can't be too precious with stuff like this. One of my mates is Indian. We went to his parents house and they were having a gathering. His parents offered us some traditional Tamil food. Of course, we were polite about it, but my mate just said, "don't eat that shit! It's disgusting, I don't even like it!" (his parents know this)... sure enough, it was NOTHING like the Indian food you find in most Indian restaurants. The kind of food where you can't really explain the crunches when you're chewing...

So cdmatt, I guess you're not a papaya salad kinda guy? Personally I like it but like you once or twice a week is plenty. Kapow (krapow/grapow moo/gai/neua) I can eat every day.

BUT I absolutely must have 2 cups of tea, cereal with fresh fruit and yoghurt for breakfast or my day will be ruined. Don't try me on rice porridge or such, I simply don't get the allure of it.

I've had poorly prepared and borderline-spoiled food in Isaan, but nothing that I'd rate as he did.

I could be wrong, but I'm going to take a wild guess and say, the times you've eaten Issan food, you've eaten the more expensive, nicely prepared stuff. You're a visiting farang, so they want to treat you well, which is how it should be. Am I wrong on that? It's just I can't imagine how anyone could enjoy eating that stuff. Sitting on the floor, eating that spicy papaya salad, with some sticky rice, and "pork", which isn't even pork because 80% of it is fat since that's the cheapest thing available.

Or for example, that raw beef (I think?) dish they love. I think it's beef, but could be wrong. Completely raw though, with some seasoning & sauce, and they just chomp it down with sticky rice. Or those green banana leaves wrapped up, with some type of gooey "beef paste", or something in them. I don't know what that is, but tried it once, and almost puked. Just think what type of food you're going to get if 5 - 7 people are eating for 100 baht. It's not going to be very good.

Kapow (krapow/grapow moo/gai/neua) I can eat every day.

Yeah, I love all that type of stuff too. Thai food. krapow, khao phad, dom yam, gean-kiao-wan, etc. That's all delicious, and I eat it everyday. Plus it's very easy to make, so you'll be hard pressed to find a place / stall that doesn't serve a good tasting dish. Only time is when you find some cheap cunt who skimps on the meat. Order some khao man gai, and get three measly pieces of chicken, type of thing.

The one Issan food I do love though is jao-aown. It's actually probably my most favorite Thai food. You won't find it in places like Pattaya, but for anyone up in Issan who hasn't tried it yet, give it a go! jao-aown restaraunts are almost as popular as Thai BBQ restaurants up here, so you won't have trouble finding a place.

Had an awesome steak dinner earlier though, I guess yesterday now. Kim and myself are the only two who have ever eaten steak, so Kim wanted to treat everyone to a nice steak dinner. So I did it right up, with two days of marinating, the potatoes, carrots and onions in tinfoil over the BBQ, corn on the cob, caesar salad, garlic toast, etc. Turned out good. They obviously loved it, because I made enough for the neighbors, but they ate everything. Fuck, there's a chance my food bill just increased by 500%, LOL.

That's actually another good thing about here. They're too stupid to know how to cut up a cow properly, so they don't differentiate between cuts of meat. They just sell by the kilo. So if you know what you're doing, you can tell them where to cut, and they're more than happy to do so. I managed to get a kilo of eye fillet for 140 baht. Hell of deal!

.You and I have already had this discussion about the bar incident. You should go back to biting your lip!

Dont you dare try to tell me to bite my lip or try to bluff your way out by stating that we had ANY type of discussion on this subject. I sent you a PM asking you to come to my place and view the tapes. Any person, which you are not, would have RUN down to my place with a freind to view the tapes and try and explain. But no, you did not, you only sent back a nasty condecending PM trying to cover up your horrific act of selfishness. Yes, so selfish to try and have the last word and be seen as being right that you stooped as low as a human being could go. The lawyer and I brought the tapes and your posts to the Pattaya police and the ONLY reason that we did not move forward on this was to get your name and identity as well as your location and passport information to bring charges against you was that it would have cost too much and taken too long to see the entire outcome, of which there was no doubt as to what happened.
As everyone knows, and I pointed out to you in the PM, I am on dialysis, and the length of time to see your sorry ass behind bars would have been too much of a strain on me as well as costly. It just was not worth the years in court and i might never see the outcome.

How you could be ALLOWED to stay on this board, even being a "senior member" or even wanting to stay on the board, knowing what you did and everyone knowing how despicable you are, is beyond my comprehension!

Now, if you want to rehash exactly what ou did and the posts etc that surround your little fiasco, please let me know and I will share with EVERYONE who did not know what you did. That is just in case someone did not see it the first time.

...and what kind of Indian food would you find in most Indian restaurants......traditional Tamil food?

Surfcrest, if you can't see the relation in taste differences/expectations between Isaan Cooking vs Mainstream Thai food and Traditional Tamil food vs Mainstream Indian food (Tamil people are one of the largest ethnic populations in India) and just want to find any opportunity to attack me, there's no point explaining it to you here.

As for the rest of your shite, I've moved this argument to the Posting Guidelines & Discussion Forum. Guys, to keep this thread from blowing out please continue the debate HERE: posting-guidelines-and-discussion-f11/consolidated-surfcrest-issues-t20883.html (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/posting-guidelines-and-discussion-f11/consolidated-surfcrest-issues-t20883.html)

Again Beachlover, what kind of Indian food would you find in most Indian restaurants? What does this have to do with Isaan cooking vs Mainstream Thai food? No one is attacking you here Beachlover...just questioning you on your comment about the type of food served in most Indian restaurants.

Now, if you want to rehash exactly what you did and the posts etc that surround your little fiasco, please let me know and I will share with EVERYONE who did not know what you did. That is just in case someone did not see it the first time.

So, let me get this straight. You video tape a Sawatdee Member in your bar, you share that information on the board and you threaten to take this video tape to your lawyer and the Thai authorities. I am sure most of the membership here is interested in being filmed in a gay bar in Thailand, their description shared on an anonymous message board and threatened by the owner with this video tape.

The ONLY reason you didnтАЩt move forward with this big guy is because you donтАЩt have a case. I shared back with you by PM that I was all too happy to pass this off to our lawyers. I can only imagine the reaction from your lawyer and the Thai authoritiesтАжif you actually followed through with your threat. If anyone was trying to bluff their way through this silly incident, itтАЩs you.

It is common knowledge that Beachlover and I have taken our discussion to the Global Forum and to a single threadтАж..thank god!

Apparently not common enough knowledge to prevent your sarcastic asides to Beachlover on this thread!

No, just hoping the fat lady will stop singing!

If we're going to stick with an operatic analogy then I would suggest the problem lies not with the fat lady but Madame Butterfly.
But you being Pinkerton, I rather doubt you would subscribe to that theory - at least not yet.

Guys, let's keep this argument confined to the "Posting Guidelines and Discussion" forum.

I've posted a reply here: posting-guidelines-and-discussion-f11/consolidated-surfcrest-issues-t20883.html (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/posting-guidelines-and-discussion-f11/consolidated-surfcrest-issues-t20883.html)
