Pattaya Update Please?

Just a few short weeks left and it's launch time to PTY for another adventure and my trusty backpack is already tossed on the kitchen table as a symbol of inspiration.

With Thep still residing in the monkey house this will be another lob-sided holiday where I will be dividing my time between visiting him at Nong Palai in the early mornings and drifting around in the afternoons and evenings practicing my somewhat rusty butterfly skills. Thep told me during one of my visits to Nong Palai last holiday that it was OK for me to take a boy - as long as I didn't take the same boy twice. As always, his words mystify me, and I asked him what hw meant by that. He just repeated the same statement. I don't remember responding. I guess that means I'll have to find 150 different boys to off, thus the reason for my request for knowledge about the scene over there right now.

Can someone tell me which bars are open and which are closed in Sunee and Boyztown. Also, the last time I saw Jomtien Plaza it was really picking up with the opening of several new restaurants and beer bars. Any recent news on JP would also be appreciated. Are there any bars with some new faces?

Any information would be appreciated, and if you are too lazy to respond - then fuck you - I will just wait and find out for myself...LOL...just joking.

Last Sunday evening I bumped into a few guys in Babylon that I know as freelancers in Pattaya. They were telling me that the chances of meeting up with a good paying farang in Pattaya were almost zero so they had come to Bangkok for a few days to try their luck. Six of them were sharing a room at a guesthouse and were doing the rounds of Babylon, Soi 4, DJ Station, GOD and then back for a rest if they were not lucky in finding a sponsor. Their modus operandi was to share all the tips and expenses.

Their main gripes about Pattaya were:
that there were few western tourists willing to spend big money on them compared to previous years.
that Pattaya was infested with Russians.
that the farangs who live in Pattaya were a bunch of clapped-out cheapskates.
Pattaya had become boring and expensive.
they got most of their tricks from Gay Romeo, not from meeting in bars or on the beach.

I hope more of them decide to take a Bangkok holiday ...

Having spent the last week here in Pattaya, I can tell you the city is over run with Russians. Good or bad I'm not sure. They certainly seem to spend money. I haven't had much interaction with them at all other than with one or two at Sansuk Sauna. Many of the Thais don't particularly like them. Never seen so many bleached blonds.
I'm not really a bar person, but the few I've been to have been rather quiet. There are still people around, but fewer I would think. I've been coming here for years and while Pattaya is nothing like what it once was in the 90's for instance, I can honestly say, I don't really see much difference in the last 5 years or so. There was a street party a few nights ago which was very well attended. The Cafe's buffet was very popular and I heard very good comments about it. In fact, I have breakfast daily at the Cafe....service and food always very good. For what it's worth I did see a western man take a Thai girl into the Ambiance the other night. I would hope that the hotels along this strip don't begin cater to the straight market. That would definitely end my trips here. There are countless other hotels outside boystown and the like for the straight trade. That would be the end of this area as we know it for sure. Just my opinion of course. The beach is moderately busy. I walked thru Sunee Plasa a couple of times. I go for Thai food at Song Kwae (sp) which is excellent. There seem to be people around but I've always been there early around 8 or 9. I think if you come here, you'll have a good time.

Pattaya seems busy but not with western gay tourists thats true , and many russians around, there is als a q at bahtbus stop for jomtien bound bus (corner of 2nd road and ptta Tai )--most russians very rude !!!! and seem not to posess any basic manners --treat bar staff terribly from what i have seen first hand !!

gogo bars --the few that are left that is !!

There is a really good rearurant called Cafe Ritz here also --fab home style cooked food ,also rec Bordeaux near Mosaik apts -fab food for the price you pay --and if you really want to spoil yourselves -Manhattans is good !!

Yes the boys I chatted to on msn messenger were heading to Bkok as well for a month so over and then home -all not looking good for Pattaya - shame because I love it :glasses7:

Yes there are, along with a lot of guys who go there just to get their rocks off.

Sometimes the freelancers will be there for their own pleasure.
More often they will meet a naive farang who likes the look of them, gets a free 'taste' in Babylon and then gets stuck with the freelancer (and his friends) for subsequent trips to the bars and discos. The farang not only pays the bar bills and club entrance fees but ends up paying for sex at the end of the night.

No prob --it was raining today here so didnt get to beach so had a few hours to pass -- just back from a few hours at central with bf -dinner ,movies ,cruising etc --we like to see if we can both pick a guy we like ,and drop a phone number or 2

we spent 4 nites in bkk --so did the usual tour --1 of them had been with me before in bkk but one hadnt (and he is a bit of a sex addict ) so i brought him to soi twilight first nite -to see the sex shows --he was blown over --which is funny as he is a real group party boy in manila and thinks he has seen it all before ,but he had never seen 4 guys hanging from the ceiling having intercourse !!--it gave him as few ideas to bring back to manila lol

If he is the shy type then Pattaya is prob not for him --my 2 Phino friends were kinda frustrated with Pattaya -- mainly because its so commercial ( completley different from Manila scene )-- they got tired of guys they were trying to hook up with asking them for money -and they are only in their mid 20s !!

I have primarily patronized the Sunee bars. My favorites are Nice Boys & Good Boys. Followed by Tom Yum and Mic My Boys. Beer is doing a good job at NB, great selection of guys, some of them have worked there for quite some time. Percentage of fems is low. GB has got no fems at all - that is the declared policy of the Thai manager (owner?). Of course most of these boys insist on being "100% man", but some of them nevertheless agree on some really good bedroom action. Most of them are frequently working on their "members" and getting tips from the punters. Tom Yum's staff fluctuates in numbers, but there are some handsome lads there. Most of them are not shy at all... Mic is quite different depending on the day one visits, as not all the staff come to work on all days. From my experience the most handsome ones only show up when they have run out of money. Percentage of fems quite high. Check ID.
Krazy Dragon is a very large bar with few staff. Drinks only 99 Baht, but too little action.
