Hopefully there are a few members on this forum that go to the dance clubs... Every year gCircuit has a gay dance venue at some hotel during Songkran. This year the first two night will be held at the "Voice Creative Hall" ; the last night at FAllabella (?) Dates: 15 Friday , 16 Saturday, and 17thnSunday. 9:15- ???

The website www.gCircuit.com (http://www.gCircuit.com) shows advance tickets for 3 nights. The last time I went, (4 years ago??) I was able to purchase tickets for one night at one of the local BKK gay bars. Does anyone in BKK know if this can be done this year? And what is "Voice Creative Hall" like? :bounce:

I've seen these promoted for a few years and been thinking about going to one. What are they like?

I went to the first of the three Songkran parties last year, all of which were held at the Imperial Queens Park Hotel in Suk 22 because of the red shirt protests.

It might have been because of the last minute venue, but I wasn't overly fussed with it and left relatively early, around 2-3 AM. Seemed much tamer than, say, Mardi Gras party in Sydney (this Saturday yay!) but there were lots of cute guys so it wasn't a complete waste of time or money.

I'll be in Bangkok for SK again this year so I'll probably give it another go. Not sure how successful it'll be though, gCircuit has been having trouble lately, with the most recent We Love Bangkok parties cancelled because of troubles with the police, and they might have lost a lot of goodwill with the international circuit types.

Two years ago when I was in Bangkok I recall seeing many groups of buffed up Asian guys from maybe Singapore or Honk Kong, who were in town for the dance.
I had concerns, so I decided not to go.

Does anyone know how this dance compares to other parties of this nature around the world. Are there 'party favours' being used? If so, I would advise caution and discretion - I wouldn't want anyone to experience unfortunate complications with the BIB or even worse, an extended stay at the Bangkok Hilton.

A few of my co-workers and friends here at home used to do the circuit parties - dance all night, stumbled home at 9am, usually with some hot muscle boy or pretty boy in tow. They made it look like a lot of fun.

One does wonder why Beachlover, our very own Nancy Reagan when it comes to drugs, would contemplate attending these things when everyone knows they are hot bed of illegal drug use.

Cool... sounds like fun!

If they're from Hong Kong/Singapore I reckon there's less likely to be drugs, but that's just a guess. Easy to avoid it anyway.

Were your "concerns" about drugs or about the boys you saw in town for it?

I found out that one can make reservations also with www.totalreservations.com (http://www.totalreservations.com). They have offices at Paragon and Central in BKK. I still need to see if I can get a ticket for my bf and I for ONE NIGHT, not for all three which is over 3000 baht. True, one can go early to the venue and buy a ticket for that night...but you are taking a chance of long lines and sold out. Usually the gCircuit dances are held at some 5 star hotel location, but this year it is held at "Voice Creative Hall" for two nights and the third night is held at Fallabella.-???

I went with a group of friends (Thais and farangs) a few years ago to all 3 of the Songkran dances (held at the Shereton, I think) and it was fun -- full of muscle beef cakes from Hong Kong and Singapore. For me it was a nice change from looking at the skinny fem guys that parade around on soi 4 and soi 2 in BKK. I didn't see anyone "zoned out" . Very tamed, everyone enjoying the music, taking off their shirts and showing off their masculine chest. (I need to hit the gym more the next 4 weeks) :occasion9:

Cool... thanks, Thrillbill. Let us know how you go. I'll have to time a visit to check out one of these sometime.
