Hi All,

So I'm heading to Phuket for my first time this month...I'm pretty exited and slightly confused at the same time!!! Ive explored BKK, Pattaya and Samui and loved every minute. But its time to try something new.

Whe
Im looking for a some clear advice on Accommodation!

In Bangkok I love to stay at the I Residence in Silom or at The Glitz. They are nice modern type hotels, well priced and close to Silom Nightlife. In Pattaya i stayed at the Mercure last time, nice hotel but my budget this time is not so big!!!

MY problem is finding some place similar to these in Phuket... Around the 1500 a night range...

I have taken a fancy to Club One Seven, they have great reviews from previous guests, rooms look good and all in all sounds and looks pretty good. All-though, many on this site say its too far away.

I'm 25 and don't really mind a tuk tuk or bike to and from the nightlife...But is Club One Seven that little bit too far, especially if i meet a nice companion??? I guess a little stroll back to my room would be far more relaxing than a tuk tuk!

Reading the info on this site, I feel the hotels in the Paradise Complex are pretty 'oldy worldy' type of places and are more Guest House type places...Nothing wrong with this but not really my cuppa tea...

Can anyone recommend anywhere near or not to far that may suite me a little more.

Thanks all, and if anyone fancies a drink or two from the 25th onwards i'd be more than happy to hang out for a few beers. As I said, first time around so would be great to get some hints first hand and have some company.

Cheers ALL.

Lip

Yeah, I recommend it. Excellent value for money. It's quite simple and basic but has clean rooms with decent natural light and is in a convenient location (almost equal distance between beach, gay nightlife area and Bangla Rd/Jungceylon Mall). You'll easily get rooms under 1,500 in high season and under 1,000 in low season.

Club One Seven looks nice but is just too far from everything for my liking... Public transport in Patong is almost non-existent so you want to be walking distance to everything. There are no bus routes within Patong. Only options are motorbike taxis (risky) and tuk tuks (price fixed by mafia...minimum 200 baht per ride, regardless of distance).

Around 1,500, I'd recommend http://www.poppapalace.com/ (in the same street/alley as Bird Cage) or http://www.pacificlighthotel.com/ (next to Poppa Palace).

If you want a nice view, go for the http://www.royalparadise.com/.. it's a little more expensive, further from the beach and fairly old in decor.

http://www.knphuket.com/ (also same street/alley as Birdcage) gets good reviews but is a bit old in decor.

I have never stayed at the Birdcage but did check it out on one of my visits. Don't take one of the standard rooms. There as very small and the bed takes up most of the space.

Yeah, I agree. I remember I took the room one or two tiers above the standard room. Still cheap as chips and comfortable enough.

I was fed up with paying 2,000-4,000 in Patong and getting crap and since I didn't want to up my budget to 6,000-10,000 I thought I'd just get something really simple instead... especially since I wasn't hosting any guests .
