View Full Version : To Know the Truth

December 14th, 2010, 18:04
xxxxcables тАУ It's Your Right to know the Truth!

reads the banner across the page! And it is presented as the truth. And yet, one might easily think it just rumors by a politician of dubious credentials.

Tabloid journalism. comes to mind.

Obviously something hasn't kept things confidential.

Does anyone think this will go over well? Is going to solve anything?

What a load of trash all this is.

I'm finding it hard to see how it will solve anything at all.

Is going to solve anything?

Sure it will. A more informed electorate (if better stuff comes out), plus a government that's more scared of their citizens, which is a good thing. You know, better watch what deals you're making with the King of Jordan, because they might end up in the NY Times.

Can someone tell us what's going on? I don't see anything in the Nation or post this morning.

Okay, WTF is (was?) this thread about? The opening post contains a quote. Where did that quote originate? Without it, the thread is a bit difficult to follow.

(Is this yet another delightful episode of forum moderation where a message is ripped out of a thread, leaving the rest of it meaningless? Hint: If a spam bot/troll starts a thread and it's decided to kill that opening post ... KILL/HIDE THE REST OF THE THREAD, PLEASE.)

The banner is from the 'wordpress' version of the Thai cables leaks pages. I guess only the webmaster there knows why speculations are 'the truth'. There is a Nation feed article just out on it that I suppose will show up on their home page soon.

Again without a URL and now it is as clear as it was before.

Have no idea what is being talked about.

The key missive so far is from the US Ambassador, reporting his meetings with certain prominent Thais earlier this year ...

Er ... why has this been moved the Global Forum ???

The OP, admittedly somewhat opaquely, referred to the Thai wiki-leak cables. Granted these may have been blocked in Thailand, but they have been all over the news in the rest of the world this week.

I've been warned that any 'discussion' of the issues even in terms of "tabloid", "gossip", etc. should be avoided as it could have serious repercussions. And that's too bad, there's a few opinions I'd like to express.

Anyway, I'm sure it will all be over soon, if leaking confidential US State Department 'secret' memos is determined to be a security issue. Look what they did to Torrent Finder:
