I would like to get money from Australia to Thailand the best and cheapest way .To transfer from my bank to theirs is a fee of $31 to $51 AUD.
Western union is just as bad.
I thought on my next time over there taking a Visa Debt card and giving them a pin number and when I send I transfer the money from my account in to there account by the internet through my bank.
Does anyone else on here do similar or can you advise me on a better and cheaper way?

Giving the check card is really the cheapest way. Just dont keep an excess amount in the account :)

Try Secure Cash Xpress. Can apply online and you will receive 2 ATM cards, one for yourself and one for your "friend" overseas. Can load more funds via Bpay. Cost $7.95 each time you load funds.

hope this helps

Many options available now without being overly-charged. You should get one of those top up cards, where you top up the card online from your bank account, then draw the money out wherever. Open up a bank account. Buy commission free Travellers Cheques in your home country, large denominations are better. Buy a few kangaroo ....., loads and loads of ways.

No...Homintern would have said "There's one born every minuite."

Well, he might have said "There's one born every minute." He was never one to display his ignorance with childish spelling errors.

Open up a no fee, no minimum balance savings account that offers a debit card in your name. Keep this completely separate from your other accounts. Then deposit as you wish. Withdrawals can then be made up to the amount you have deposited.

Keep in mind that these withdrawals will probably be subject to the 150 baht Thailand ATM fee.

It's actually a processor mainly for the porn industry, but I can recommend it. Get both of you an account, and purchase him an ATM card for $35. Payments are instantly on his card. Not sure about the fees, but cheap, cheap.

When I was in Spain recently NAB charged 4% for advances on a debit card. My companion had a credit union account just for travelling. They had no charges, or he has not advised me to the contrary. He knew how pissed of I was with NAB.

I think UBank is offering 6.51% with a savings account...

Unless you specify the amount you wish to send, any advice offered will be pretty meaningless. SWIFT transfers are usually for a set fee regardless of amount; Western Union charges in bands, so 151 dollars may cost twice as much to send as 150 dollars, debit cards will incur a withdrawal fee on top of a bad exchange rate and maybe a fee charged by your own bank as well. Then there are options like paypal.

If Gordy looked in the mirror and decided to become a MAN, he'd realise that losing the TITS would be as important as growing the BALLS.

Try both getting Paypal accounts for small transfers of money.

For large transfers, think about it for just long enough to decide to make it into a small transfer.

For advice without dumb insults from the illiterate riff raff, go to one of the other excellent forums on Gay Thailand, such as gaybuttonthai.com

I have an account with Kasikorn [ex Thai Farmers], to which I either transfer larger amounts [the bank fee is the same whether you transfer $100 or $5,000, so the percentage cost becomes minute] or make deposit when there, earning high rate of interest. i then use their excellent internet banking to make regular and/or occasional transfers to local accounts. I also find it very convenient to use my local ATM card when in Thailand, instead of carrying an excess of cash. I also use their cash deposit machines at night upon arrival to deposit any monies that I have changed at the airport, preferring never to have more than 3-5,000 baht in cash on me at any time.

The technology is there so why not use it?

I have an account with Kasikorn

How/where did you open the account with this bank, I tried once but no luck.
"Will your company be the guarantee for this account?" They asked.

I told them I just want to put money in and never borrow money from them so guarantee will never be an issue.
But no.

Just try again. And I'll doubt you'll have to go to two different branches before you'll find one of them happy to open an account for you.

I opened the account back when it was Thai Farmers, at that time I had tried at Bangkok Bank but they said no. I have never been a resident of Thailand, always just a very frequent visitor.

Kasikorn is a very progressive opener of new branches as is CIMB, therefore chasing new customers, although the danger when going to new branches is you may get young less inexperienced staff. My account is with the big branch on Suriwongse Rd, a savings account with book. Very convenient as you can use deposit machines at night after arrival and get rid of baht from airport exchange rather than worry about carrying too much or leaving in saftety deposit boxes at the hotel.
