Clipping nails...an interesting superstition...and much more...

RICE QUEEN DIARY
An AmericanтАЩs view of life and culture in Gay Thailand ...
and all its beautiful boys!

"Awhile back I wrote about one of the many superstitions boys have. This one
had to do with clipping finger and toe nails, in the room, between 6pm and 6am.
The boy that told me about this said to do so would bring bad luck to the home."..

What happened to Rice Queen Diary (http://www.ricequeendiary.com)? No updates since August.
And that's not the first high-traffic gay thailand website to just disappear.
Anyone know why http://GayBoyThailand.com vanished? That
site had thousands of pages of content. The owner just let the domain
expire and get picked up by a domain parking group. Didn't even try to
sell the site. Sheesh.

Just because these guys get bored with a site or can't figure out how to
monetize the traffic doesn't mean some of the rest of us wouldn't gladly
take over.

Well netty sweetie, why don't you start your own site and never give up it's domain? Everyone will love you for it.

GayBoyThailand stopped blogging sometime last year. He wrote one last post thanking everyone for their readership and comments but saying he wanted to move onto other projects. I've read somewhere that he does have other blogs. Not confirmed though. Anyone know if he posts anywhere else?

I used to love reading his charming wit and stories. First gay blog I ever read. Some of the shit he posted was hilarious, tongue in cheek stuff.

After Google took away his ad revenue his motivation to blog dwindled. The original purpose had been to develop his writing skills but he had already achieved that so without the ad revenue it wasn't worthwhile anymore. He tried one other source of ad revenue but it didn't make much. He didn't want to put a heap of ads up as he wanted it to remain classy.

The blog took up a lot of head space - it would be constantly on his mind, what the next post would be and how he could turn day to day incidents into the next post. He was worried about the risk of putting details of his personal life online. He wanted to move onto bigger writing projects so he decided to stop...

As far as I know, he let the domain expire on purpose. ... it wasn't a money thing for him. He didn't sound like a very commercially driven guy. He didn't want the to sell it because the blog was quite a personal thing for him. I don't think he would've wanted the content to belong to anyone else, so easiest to just keep it live for a couple of months, then pull the whole thing once the domain expired. I think he got offers to buy the site or domain but he, having the integrity he does, didn't want his ex-readers going to look at his blog, only to find themselves on a different site.

I wish him and Chalerm all the best... he's a nice guy.

Why do you think he writes the http://gorq.wordpress.com/ blog?

I see no signs they are the same person.

same same "rice queen".

You're incoherent... no idea what you're trying to say.

I don't see any similarities to RQD and the GORQ blog posted above here, either. I think BrisbaneGuy was either mistaken or was kidding when he implied they were "same same" person.

I wish RQD would start posting again, though. I should get off my lazy butt and email him again. I hope he's OK and just enjoying life there as I'd guessed in a previous thread about the site going dormant.

Trying to post/share something new on a regular schedule can become a chore (speaking from personal experience, and I've only put up 200-some-odd posts) but I'd settle for reading his stuff on an irregular basis, too.

Well, he's either mistaken or just simply too incoherent to make any sense...

I never read his blog but if you do e-mail him, suggest he consider better imagery. If you go to the home page right now, the first three photos are of the most hideous boys, followed by a giant photo of a cockroach! What was he thinking?
