Police: Number of wounded upgraded to 9 after downtown Bangkok bomb explosion
08:05 PM Jul 25, 2010
BANGKOK (AP) - Police say that at least nine persons were wounded when a bomb exploded at a bus stop in downtown Bangkok.
Police Maj. Gen. Anuchai Lekbamroong, at the site of the explosion Sunday, declined to speculate whether the bombing was related to Thailand's political turbulence in the wake of bloody protests in the Thai capital earlier this year.
The bomb exploded shortly after voting ended in a Parliamentary by-election which pitted a government candidate against a leader of the so-called Red Shirts who staged the protests which were suppressed by the army in mid-May.
