Gay bars catching the straight tourist dollar

Two friends who arrived back thursday from Pattaya made an interesting observation. They had been to the Xboys bar in soi1 pattayaland several times and noted that straight tourist both sexes arriving with coupons and were given personalized attention, including free drink[s]

Obviously some tie up with hotels or an intourist group but good marketing.
Prior to becoming Copa , it was not unusual to see straight tourist from hotels arrive for the G rated floor shows. Whether that has continued I have not heard. Those damned dog and monkey skits used the be popular with all bar the regulars .
Maybe Venue has a similar deal with hotels?.

I remember 10/15 years ago the 2 storied place in Sunni next to where Memories is now,used to have a procession of baht buses arrive to see live sex shows and reportedly paid huge entrance fees to do so. Hetro downstairs and gay upstairs with the boys rotating where needed. The baht bus drivers were paid the commission rather than travel agents.

That place looks like a bombsite now and apart from Krazy Dragon I dont think any bar in Sunni could tap into that market.

Id be interested to find out if Copa and BBB do anything similar.

MMM Lonely, you are correct the dog and monkey shows were loved by a lot of us. But on this forum, with its faux sophistication, the shots at the dog and monkey will fill a book. I never objected to the slim smooth assed monkey fucking my face for a few seconds. I considered it high halarity.

It has been a while since I have been back to Pattaya. When I was last there Throbb was still doing their thing but with a different star, not the heavy ladyboy that everyone got a kick out of. One thing for sure, for me Throbb was the cornerstone of Boyztown. I am no fan of Drag so Boys Boys Boys did little for me.

Now I don't hear much buzz about Boyztown or the Copa. What is going on in Boyztown? What bar had the show that is bringing the crowds in?

The whole idea of British "drag" is to be grotesque - don't confuse it with "female impersonation" which is more about glamour etc.

Unfortunately for Jimmy, he attempts the latter but achieves the former!

One thing that has always intrigued me about Jimmy:

Are we talking about the same Boyz Town? 1 or 2 customers, do me a favour, i was there last week, and i went to the copa show, and the place was full, i was escorted to a seat with a great big pillar in front of me, but the atmosphere was great, many asian customers, then i went to BBB, not as busy, but ok. No fuck shows, but i guess they are catering to a different crowd now, mainly asian, they seem to be the one's with the cash, not your whinging farang (most posters on here) who spend fu*k all, but complain the most, don't they get it, have they ever to been to the thai gay disco's and seen how busy they are? the truth of the matter is that the Thai's really do not want old farang in their clubs, they have fleeced us enough already that they don't need the cash!

The truth is probably somewhere between the two positions here:

I would be surprised if Copa was not full or nearly full - even at the height of low season they usually manage to attract a decent crowd - purely for the shows. Likewise BBB on a smaller scale as their shows are even more stale and tired than those in Copa.

However, it is perfectly feasible for these two (some might say the two premier) venues to be fairly busy whilst the rest of Boyztown is pretty dead - especially the 190/200b+ per drink go-go bars with zero added value.

No, i do believe it is the one spelt with a z, rather than an s! go look for yourself, assuming you can afford the 170 baht for a drink? in fact, there are renovations continuing at nearly every bar in Boyz Town, cafe royale, copa, amor & toy boys, so the money must be coming from somewhere? at least they are making an effort, unlike those pissholes in Sunee/Jomtien.

Great... LMTU is calling other people poor again, yet he:

(1) was chased through Tuis Bar at Jomtien Beach and taken to the police station for failing to pay a hotel bill,

(2) had to stop treatment for a life-threatening condition and switch to a cheaper hospital because you ran out of funds and

(2) stays in 900 baht/night dumps and boasts that they're just as good as the Dusit.
