Tawan Bar officially opens by 8PM normally. The show usually starts between 10:30PM to 11PM depending on the crowd. But anyway, you can decide to take the boy back to your room any time. So, it depends on your timing and preference. If you want to skip the show (actually, the show allows you to check out how big some guys can be - in a way to "check your goods" before you OFF him, so you should at least catch the show once since it can be quite entertaining the first time) you can even go to Tawan at 8:30PM to off a guy, before the show, mid-way, or after the show.

The OFF fee (250THB) you pay to Tawan bar belongs to the bar. You tip the guy separately.

Minimum tip is 1500THB these days, unless its one of the popular bodybuilders in the bar (which then it will be above that but generally 2000THB). Yes, they will give u back your off fee if he doesn't perform. A couple of years ago I offed a guy from Krazy Dragon but when he got to the hotel, there was something wrong with his ID card. Mark offered a refund, but in the end I just took another guy.
Also, at the bar across the soi from KD I offed a guy who said he would stay the night. He didn't, so I took him back to the bar and complained. They refunded my fee and I went back to KD and found someone else.

You know, it's not really such a difficult thing to do, going with a guy from a bar.
