New perspective on Thailand

Hi everyone..
as the name says, total newbie here, the basics: italian just turned 30yo but i still get away with my claim of being 25!

i've been reading the posts for quite some time and decided to jump in..
i just returned from my 5th travel to Thailand and as odd as it may sound to some people i've never had a sensual massage nor have i ever walked into a gogo bar.. simply because i never had the chance as i was always travelling with other people..

during this last trip i accidentally met a Thai guy at a minimart in a secluded area of Phuket.. he was strikingly handsome, air asia flight attendant from BKK, 2 minutes after greeting we were having a quickie in the toilet of the resort he was staying at.. it left me wanting more..much more

upon return to Italy I decided it is about time I visit Thailand on my own.. started reading forums all over the net and I planned a 3 week trip starting the last week of july.
First of all will get my fix for Arabs in Bahrain and then get to BKK. I still need to decide if I wanna do Pattaya as well (never been)

I'm just a regular guy but I can be very shy at first so I'm somewhat skeptical about this whole adventure.. though my hunger for sex has always gotten me over my shyness and has pushed me way beyond unthinkable limits, especially in the Arab countries where things aren't as easily accessible..

I hope I can make some new friends here, learn from your experiences and maybe meet someone for a beer once I'm in Thailand..

I didn't want to waste too much of people's time by talking too much about myself but since you brought it up..I've always travelled extensively and enjoy knowing people from different places and backgrounds.. that keeps me from being/becoming one of the many close minded Italians who eat Pizza and Pasta anywhere they travel to.. ;)
It helps that I spent many years studying abroad including Canada where I attended University (of Toronto) where some professors too told me I write better English than most natives lol

Anyways, I am rather open minded when it comes to people I like to hang out with.. I seem to connect well with older guys because most people my age are fairly shallow and lack interests and hobbies. Living in a fashionable city like Milan doesn't really help lol
I am an avid Opera listener and unfortunately it is an art that doesn't really draw many youngsters.. so I am accustomed to hanging out with older guys.. besides, I love anyone who can teach me things I don't know of and make me a better/wiser person..
Sexually speaking, I've never been with anyone older than 35/40 but never say never..

Arabs.. well, wow, they drive me crazy! by "i spent quite some time" i didn't mean a month.. i've only started my searches about this "side" of Thailand 4 days ago.. have gone through at least ten blogs/forums/guides etc

I did notice these "feuds" as I defined them earlier.. but it all looks out of context to me since I really know no one here and my reading of the posts was very selective

as I said before, Just a moment or LMTU as you call him (is that an acronym for something by the way?) was nice to me by sharing some info.. as he did name some venues that I had already decided I would visit - based on reviews I read elsewhere or their own websites.. so his suggestions or at least part of them didn't seem foul..

I did mention I visited Thailand 5 times.. from North to the extreme south Satun province.. and none of those trips was a "sex holiday".
Lately I have developed the urge to start travelling on my own, just to gain independence and freedom from friends and family really.. and it will be a long and varied trip touching 2 continents and 4 nations in slightly over 3 weeks.. It's not like I'm gonna lock myself in a massage parlour and not visit around and live some sort of "ghetto life" - that's not me in Italy, that's not me travelling.

I totally agree...the first sauna that I've ever been to and it was great. Handsome young gay guys, many of which wouldn't be caught dead in a go-go bar. It's where you're most likely to find college educated or guys from middle-class and up families.

The bar scene is a different type of guy. Many of them make good companions but they're typically from the North and probably left school by 16yrs old.

Try a variety of venues! Each one gives you a different view of the guys in Thailand.

A decent looking guy in his 30's will get hit on left and right, both by guys looking for money and guys that are looking for someone to take care of them (perhaps not much of a difference). You also might be alarmed when 17 yr olds take a fancy with you. The guys prefer older guys for whatever reason, which is a boon for Westerners which seem to be raised with the opposite inclination. Same goes for skin color...they are nuts about white people whereas they catch my eye. Match made in heaven? Perhaps.

The only real risk in Thailand is getting attached to anybody. If you don't live there then it really is impossible to figure out who is sincere and who is not. It sounds like you keep things casual, so I'm sure you'll be fine.

I must say I was a bit saddened by someone's post in another thread saying there's nothing else to Thailand than gogo bars etc.. then again it could have been a bad joke..I dunno really!

in a way i'm somewhat scared because i can never guess people's age even if it was to save my life (which in certain situations may be more than a saying!)
the main cause is that i always see myself like when i was 21yo so sometimes i may find a guy who's actually 20 and think he's over 30 and sometimes i find a guy who's actually 16 and i think he's 25..

so i'm wondering if there is a risk of finding underage guys in massage/gogo/saunas or they hopefully have a ban that is seriously enforced US-style? In Italy nobody checks a single id so one has to be very cautious - although our law says 16+ isn't an offence..

You did guess right, I like to keep things casual all the time because I need to be free and I have no idea what monogamy is.

Sort of. There aren't now because of the Merlin law but the Merlin law didn't really close any gay brothels because gay sex was always very hidden and more street/battuage.
Now, in Milan and elsewhere, you can still get that or freelance professional escorts/masseurs who have their own apartments

No risk in saunas since everyone is carded. If you bring someone back to a regular hotel room then your guest has to leave their ID card at the front desk (and the hotel staff will verify their age and in many cases will already know them). If you meet a freelancer on the street then it'd be advisable to learn how to read the Thai ID cards. I always seem to end up with guys just a little younger than me so I haven't had to be concerned. I had an 18yr old sit next to me at Wild West for a few minutes and it weirded me out. Not for me.

As a fellow new member can i well done to Total Newbie and to everyone posting on this thread. This has been the most informative thread I have read here in the month or so that i've being using this forum. The search thread is useful but sometimes find it hard to filter through all the information
