I hope the "Reds" can go away (or relocate) like a rash on ones bum so gay Silom can get back to its normal night life. Though I live in the Pattaya area, my Thai bf and I have a BKK weekend a couple times a month. Ok, last night we thought we would try Pattaya...Boystown (same same) and Panorama (the only "gay bar" in Pattaya) still doesn't compare to the Telephone Bar or Balcony in Silom (boring as hell-- unless you want to pick up a skinny fem "boy".) Next, we went to NAB... I tried to phone in and reserve a table, but you have to order a bottle of whiskey in order to reserve a table in advance. (We both do not drink whiskey and there is just two of us.) So we get to NAB early --before midnight hoping to get a good spot and now you buy a entrance ticket 250 baht for one drink. (Sorry, I couldn't help but compare the two strong drinks one gets at DJ's for 200 baht) and then when we entered, we are escorted to some table clear in the back. (Again, I like DJ and GOD- the earlier you go, the better choice of "perch" you have.) I use to like NAB when it first opened, now it seems to only cater to the whiskey drinking groups that can spend the most money. If you want to go to this place by yourself or with your BF, you're treated as if you are a third class citizen. I'll save my money and wait for Silom to get back to "normal".

What's the deal with Silom Soi 4? I've had dinner there once or twice but it felt pretty dull. Maybe I went at the wrong time.

How is Silom Soi 2 (DJ Station etc.) doing now? Soi 2 is much closer to the red siege at the intersection with Rama IV than Soi 4 is. Is DJ able to open at all?
