I generally follow back anyone who follows me who doesn't appear to be a spammer. I very rarely use Twitter to promote this board or Thailand travel in general. I usually tweet my opinions about world affairs, discuss geeky tech stuff, share trivial observations about my day to day life, and banter with mostly independent internet based entertainers.

Want to follow you now and get this follow message:
Twitter is stressing out a bit right now, so this feature is temporarily disabled.

Pattaya Gay TV is on Twitter too - http://twitter.com/PattayaGayTV
You be the first who know when the latest edition is online on http://pattayagaytv.com/ - next Sawatdee-Gay-Thailand.com for sure.
But I have to learn a little bit more here on Twitter.

OK, I followed you. Try again, PGTV, Twitter has hiccups sometimes like the infamous "fail whale", but it runs remarkably smoothly considering how many people use it and the fact that it doesn't make a dime.

I have noticed on Thai boards and many others that owners tend to post questions on their boards similar to what they post on twitter.

What are you doing today. Is it cold where you are. How was Xmas dinner.
What are you watching on TV. Most often the subject has nothing to do with the forum posted to.

I concluded rightly or not that these childish threads are designed to stimulate visitor numbers and so increase the income from ads.

If that is correct they should factor in the lack of interest in an increasingly boring or off topic forum[s] on their incomes.

Yeah, LW, I agree. Twitter is really just a giant chatroom where you can only see comments from who you choose to follow. The kinds of topics that might be entertaining in that sort of environment rarely are of much use as forum topics. Forums are more a place to compose articles on specific subjects. I suppose one could tweet links to forum articles one has composed, but I tend to not connect my Twitter activity to my forum activity.

Unfortunately this is how some boards are started initially. It's called "populating" the board with "content". There are even online marketing services that do this for you on a daily basis... generate discussion and interaction with on-topic posts, competitions and comments. Some of the more commercial operations deliberately use these tactics to stimulate activity during the initial ramp-up phase.

After some time making these "artificial" posts... the board should hopefully take off with most activity generated by real users.

GayTingTong seems to have gone this way. Whilst Oogleman, the owner still posts a lot of stuff himself, more and more activity is now generated by real users and he's gradually building a loyal regular user base like SGT has. It's actually getting to be a pretty good board... not as dull as it used to be. It might even catch up to SGT given due time.

I was thinking of pattayapassion and gaythailand in particular, but I note that oogleman does posts a lot as well.

Some of the most popular Twitterers are in fact authors.

Some of the most popular Twitterers are in fact authors. Some leading Scientologists are actors, proving that they can live a fantasy life 24/7/365. Doubtless the same goes for writers of fiction.

why single out scientology - why not any religious people? they are all equally deluded.

sorry, I will make a correction: why single out scientology - why not any religious people? they are all living a fantasy life. meanwhile I will go scouring the online dictionary for an impressive word to describe your postings.

sorry, I will make a correction: why single out scientology - why not any religious people? they are all living a fantasy life.As I say, your postings lack any subtlety of thought; they are merely a knee-jerk reaction of someone who has at best a superficial acquaintance with that of which he writes. I'm assuming you regard Buddhism in the same vein?

I didn't notice much subtlety in any postings here, though there is no shortage of self-proclaimed experts. Sorry if I cant take things in here as seriously as you obviously do.
As for Buddhism, I am not an expert on that either. If it is technically a religion, at least it doesn't purport to have the answers to everything based on a bunch of myths written thousands of years ago by a bunch of uneducated, racist, sexist, homophobic desert dwellers, modifed and added to by a bunch of sexually repressed men in dresses, and then try to impose those beliefs on everybody else.
