Since it's 6 weeks until I move to Thailand, I have gotten on some sites where I can talk to Thai people (gayromeo, gay.com . . .). Additionally, I have had some guys say they want to help me and hang out and stuff. My question is this -- what is the polite way to ask them if they are money boys or not? Also, when some of you are approached by guys (not in the go-go bars of course), how do you determine if they are money boys or genuinely interested?

Probably the best way is to learn more about them. Are they working or in school. If not then most likely looking for a sponsor. In any event do it in a way that they do not lose face.

You will often find after chatting to boys in gay.com (my nickname is BangkokFelcher - look out for me) that as the moment of truth arrives (ie. when shall we meet?) you get the "I'm not a money boy but can you help me?" line. When chatting up an unknown boy in bar (Telephone, say) I use the "That money boy over there keeps looking at me" line and use the response to suss out whether the boy in question is also a money boy. In the chat room you can use something similar about "So many money boys pvt me" and see what he says

not just ask them in conversation what they think about money boys? Ask them what they think about that whole farang thing of older men coming to Thailand and buying sexual services from young Thai men. I mean what/how does he think/feel about that as a young Thai man. Horror, outrage, indignation, embarrassment? Or is it yeah baby bring the dollars on, the buffalo needs an operation!!

And then say something like (put on your best blonde accent) Gosh would he ever do anything like that?

I don't mind because I don't consider being older or plumper any big deal. Fiftyish and overweight. In Thailand, I have lovely young men swoon over me all the time, outside the bars even, but I am sorry, I wasn't born yesterday (clearly) and I am skeptical of their motives. So you think you have won some sort of forum victory now?

I also know someone who won lottery jackpot and became a billionaire. But I don't think many people can get rich that way.
