You see! It's not all bad news from Thailand. This morning's Metro reported that a British Honeymoon couple survived the Hua Hin rail crash because they were in first class sleepers.

Amazing Thailand :laughing3:

Hundreds of Thais also survived the accident. I guess they matter less than a couple Brits, though.

What about the British guy who badly injured himself when the harness on the bungee jump came undone in Phuket. He survived and went on to say he thought it was safe to do because the owners of the jump said they had a 100% safety record. According to reports weeks after they still say they have a 100% safety record dispite this particular accident...... TIT........

We live on a soi just off Petchkasem Rd (the main drag in Hua Hin) and the other night ~ around 5AM or so ~ I was half awake and heard many sirens wailing away down the road.
At the time I had no idea what had gone wrong, but even then, in the dark, I thought to myself it sounded like it must've been, at least, quite a large multi-car accident. Turned out later that it was the HH response to the train crash which happened about 10 kilometers south of town.
The HH police station is only 3 blocks away, as is Sao Paulo Hospital and each dispatched most of their resources. After watching the scene on TV later ~ a helicopter news shoot ~ it seemed to me amazing that 'only' 10 were killed.

They changed this "100% safety record" statement after a journalist reminded them about it.

Maybe they have for a short period of time whilst the media eyes are on them, but I should think it will be like all the other safety regulations in Thailand such as Condo and Disco/Bars fire escapes/rules etc., etc. Envisage being in a place like DJ Station in Bangkok if a fire broke out. That would be a cataclysm!!!!!!
