I hope that English and Welsh members of Sawatdee Gay Thailand will take the opportunity to visit the relics of St Th├йr├иse of Lisieux, a 19th-century Roman Catholic nun, which have arrived in Britain for a month-long tour. The tour of the casket, containing pieces of her thigh and foot bones, is likely to attract hundreds of thousands of pilgrims. The casket will be visiting 28 centres of prayer, including many Roman Catholic cathedrals. The faithful will be bringing roses, to be blessed by proximity to the bones. The relics possess supernatural powers to promote reconciliation.

Is she the patron saint of boy lovers, or what?

Is she the patron saint of boy lovers, or what? She has offered to give me head but I am being faithful to the Beloved Disciple.

I must say that the thread opener certainly falls into the "...whatEVER" category.

How about the Catholic Church liquidates it's billions of dollars in assets and use the money to compensate the victims abused while under its care.

Most of the millions of victims of the Church over the years are long dead.

I am afraid BB I have to disagree. There are still tens of thousands of people who would like redress from the Catholic Church and many more yet to be heard from, no doubt.

It's true millions of the victims are dead but there's plenty left who are still alive who could be compensated.

And... it would be an excellent way to free up some space. These churches take up way too much room around this city. Talk about a waste of space. Sometimes I see this big old buildings and think they would be much better converted into a block of apartments or offices... do one of those old sandstone mixed with new architecture re-developments.

I read someplace (too lazy right now to look it up) that the Roman Catholic Church is one of the largest land owners on the planet. Right up there with McDonalds, who apparently earns much of its income from land-leases from its franchisees.

I've hard that one too... too lazy to look it up as well (LOL) but I would be surprised if that wasn't true.. or if at least all the church denominations combined didn't come up with the biggest figure for land ownership in the world.

Interesting article... I've rarely heard someone articulate this so clearly.

"Religion attacks us in our deepest integrity by saying we wouldn't be able to make a moral decision without it, and that a supernatural dictatorship is our only hope."
