Constitutional Referendum – 7 August
As most are probably aware, Thailand has been run by a military appointed government since a coup in May 2014. Under this government the country has been tightly controlled and political dissent and protest restricted. This Sunday, 7 August, will see a national referendum to approve a new constitution. This is an important issue within Thailand as not all are in agreement with the new constitution. In Chiang Mai there have already been some politically charged incidents in the run up to the referendum. This is not a political website so we won’t go into details.
