What happens when he who can't be named etc

I see on the news this morning that the government have released statements saying that he who can't be named isn't stable etc, but without getting into that in anyway can I just ask ( for a friend who's about to travel to LOS) that if "that" happens is anyone aware of the likely actions by government thereafter ?

I once heard wild rumours of bars countrywide being forced to close for anything from a week to a month as a sign of respect etc, is anyone aware of the ACTUAL position perhaps ?

Will it be a few days for a state funeral and then business as usual ( and u mean business there not politics or anything else - let's not get into tha here please) - but bar and holiday stuff wise etc is anyone aware of the likely plan there ?

No one has any idea of the actual scenario! The only clue is that when the sister of a certain person passed away there was a period of 3 months mourning. As I recall, this affected places of public entertainment like Impact Arena, Thailand Cultural Centre, stadia etc. which were all closed for 3 months. But daily life continued as before. My assumption would be (and it's is merely an assumption) that there might be a short period of closure - perhaps an evening or two - as a mark of respect, but that will all be determined by the government.

    The final outcome is unknown.
There will certainly be a prolonged period of genuine grief.
Everyone in the Kingdom will be expected to wear yellow or white as a sign of respect.
Best guess is ALL businesses close for a week.
However, people with renal failure can be supported by dialysis for a considerable period of time.
Nothing will happen until the power brokers consider it an appropriate time.

If they don't even know the day before annual Buddha days and Public Holidays whether bars are to close what hope is there for a rare event of this magnitude?

All will be resolved by money....bars closed...no pay or income...bars re-open. Simple.

I was in Bangkok when his mother died. The funeral was a very big affair, but the bars stayed open.

I don't think anything is cast in stone here. My guess is that there will be spontaneous expressions of grief and demonstrations of respect, but fears of lengthy enforced bar closures are probably (I suspect..) misplaced.

When his sister passed away they officially closed the bars for three days. On the second day half the bars had re-opened and on the third day all were.

frequent, there is a time for everything but now is not the time for jokes.

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
