Loved the Taipei gay pride report. Need to put that on my bucket list. Lol.

It is a really fun event. The year I was there it was also not the greatest weather but there were plenty of scantily clad boys. I like Taiwan a lot in general. Lots of hot guys. Interesting history. Nice mountains and nature.

As a fan of Taiwan I agree totally with fedssocr. And the Parades are huge fun. Shocking news about the suicide of the Professor. Taiwanese friends tell me the outpouring of sympathy may well hasten passage of the gay marriage bill.

Any feedback please? Anyone reading these articles and find them beneficial or are we wasting our time and cyber space writing and publishing them?

Just stumbled across this thread and read the Chiang Mai article. A fair assessment in my view and nice to see some good coverage of Chiang Mai. I would just add to one of the comments that there has been some rejuvenation down at the night bazaar on gay soi 6, with several bars there close together now. It's not the night bazaar of old but an improvement from a couple of years ago.

Not sure why Lavender Lanna was brought up as it's rather ancient history now. Though it did do some damage to the reputation of gay people and businesses in the city at the time. Especially happening not long after the gay pride debacle and provoking further protests.

Bottom line, you can't just turn up in a small mafia run town and expect to be the big "I am", build a house of cards and get away with it . As it is, and indeed as was strongly suspected at the time, the whole Lavender operation was a con by a guy with a considerable rap sheet including both "sexual" and "financial" offences and multiple pseudonyms. Anyway he's dead and its in the past so we'll spare the details.

But reading about Lavender did remind me of an article I wrote on one of Chiang Mai's best parties: Gay Parties – The memory Still laughing about it now!

Will have to give asiaguys.net a read, especialy Taiwan stuff. Spent some happy times there and always wonder what life would have been like if I'd settled there, with the then Taiwanese BF, rather than come to Thailand.
