Many places issue e-tickets now so where you book from is not a big problem
http://www.evaair.com/html/b2c/english/ have flights in September at 23,400 baht single or 40,790 baht return including the massive surcharges. The return flight is 31,700 excluding charges. EVE have nice new Boeing 777s and big entertainment systems.
http://www.saveflights.com/ is a Bangkok based agent with published prices and can issue e-tickets. I just got return quotes from them for late September
including charges Gulf Air via Muscat 31,500 baht or Emirates via Abu Dhabi to Birmingham 34,700 baht. They have an e-mail enquiry form as well.
