Thailand continuing efforts to end illegal ivory trade

Bangkok, 1 March, 2017 – Thailand is continuing its nationwide efforts to bring an end to the illegal trade on ivory and ivory products by extending the implementation of the National Ivory Action Plan (NIAP) for another year. The Plan, which is in line with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), came to an end on 30 September, last year.
